I was taught union only has to be facing forward on military uniforms not required on civilian clothing, Only those going into battle are to wear flag as so.

Well you taught me something I must say. My grandpa used to be a sheriff and I always wondered (but was too young to ask) why the flag was backwards.

To wear our country's flag properly, the field of stars is worn closest to your heart. Further, when worn on the sleeve of a military uniform, the flag should appear to be advancing and not retreating. Thus, if your patch is to be worn on your LEFT sleeve, use a left flag (normal). For patches worn on your RIGHT sleeve, use a "right" or "reversed field" flag.

Whereas a flag patch is restricted to military, emergency, and patriotic organizations; it appears, the lapel flag pin is not restricted. Section 8j of the Flag Code reads:

No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.

According to the Flag Code, Chris Lane shouldn't even be wearing it as a patch.

Also the Ambulance or Police on a vehicle is written in reverse on the front of the vehicle so that when it is following you on the highway and you look in your rearview mirror you can read it.

Not poking fun Fouz but it was funny!

Hey, I've got thick skin. If I say something stupid, you can poke all the fun you want!

But what you just re-stated is exactly what I said...

That's so when you look in your rearview mirror, the reflected word will appear correct.

Like I've told Fouz before, for as smart as he is, he occasionally comes up with a doozy.

I could see the mistake of having a retreating union on your right sleeve, but having a reversed flag with a retreating union on your left sleeve is fubar
