South winds, light rain, and a boat full of determined fishermen was the scenario this weekend. We flew under the cover of darkness to an area that I felt would be a little less crowded as Saturday and Sunday made their appearance. These gentlemen had paid BigCrappie to catch fish, and that's what we did.

The first cast of Saturday morning hit paydirt, as my client tagged a nice white to start the day. The second cast was a miss, and the third guy sounded the trumpets as his drag indicated that he had indeed hooked up with a silver train. From gray:30, until about 9am, we continously caught fish. We would tame 15-20 sandies, and then wham!, we would get a nice hybrid wild card, so my guys wouldn't be getting lazy. The fishing was almost too good, as I didn't get to really fish, but sacrafices must be made haha. We had our limit a little after 7:30, but managed to keep at least one fish on the line until around 9, when the fish finally decided they were simply no match for the Tarrant County Torturers. I estimate, conservatively, that we boated 140-160 sandies and hybrids on this outing.

Oh yes, and let's not forget about Sunday.

The war council was held at the pancake palace in downtown Fun Barrel, pre-dawn. With haggard faces, and tired eyes, we shook hands under the lights, not knowing what the morning held for us. Southern winds were prevailing, and the stars were not able to shine, as the clouds once again blanketed our part of Texas. Perfet.

Not seeing another soul the day before, we chose to stake our claim once again in less popular waters for a complete rendition of Saturday's festivities. Pulling up to the chopping block, I handed each of my men the only thing they needed. Questions were asked, and questions were answered, as I let the waves slowly ease us into position. Deploying the trolling motor, and taking one over the bow, I set us into position. My guys just looked at me, waiting for the shot to be called. 20yds...10yds...5yds..."let 'em fly."

I couldn't hear the baits hit the water, but I could hear the drag. Back left pulled a hybrid, back and center right pulled sandies. Game on. What I thougt would be a comparable morning to yesterday, actually proved to be better as we saw surface action more the a dozen times. My clients orchastrated their casts perfectly as they continously lead an onslaught against all that was striped. I was very pleased with all that I had seen, and am very blessed to have been a part of such fine fishing.

The numbers for Sunday held true, with around 150 sandies caught, as well as 12-15 hybrids. Good job Green Bay Packaging, you made my job so rewarding!

Best part was when I was sitting on Tennis court point (like normal) and I see Lane in the yellow boat heading in on water like glass. I look toward the north and see an erie ripple effect come torwards me. It was the cold front, as Lane goes from glass to the light ripple I hear, clear as day, his whole boat load yell. It was atleast a 20 to 30 degree temp down.
