Just when I think that I have finally got the hang of this Texas flyfishing thing, I get skunked. My oldest son and I took our Sevylor Fish Ranger inflatable raft out to the Plowman Creek area above Whitney yesterday. Water was very low.

Spent several hours. He used a spinning rod & reel, I used an 8 wt. rod with sinking tip WF. I threw specially tied B&D Specials, black & bluegills, poppers, Sneaky Pete, frog imitation, Llano bugs, and a chartreuse streamer. Not even 1 bite. Any suggestions?

keep moving till you find fish. once you find the fish slow down and work the area over till your satisfied you have caught all the fish you are going to out of that spot then move on. Once you find a pattern the fish are on, search out those spots and dont waste time fishing dead water.

Thank you for the hints Case-Ryan. We actually did keep moving most of the time. Since the raft navigates so poorly, we were limited. Perhaps we did dawdle a bit much a couple of times. Perhaps the water was too shallow (~10') and too warm? Too many jet skis in the area...
