Was fishing today on Big Cypress above 43 throwing a rattlesnake. This alligator actually bit the worm I set the hook and thought I was hung up after a really brief but hard pull. Troll over to get unhung and he started swimming out really slow. So I think we have a big catfish, pulled up and after a few minutes my son kneeled down to try to grab him, you can just imagine the surprise we both had when it was an alligator. Well he went back down and just laid on the bottom. So for the next hour and fifteen minutes we split time on holding pressure on him until he finally came back to the top just long enough to get a few pictures. If you look you can see the rattlesnake hanging out of his mouth and the picasso shakey head tied to 14# test. We also watched him move around on the bottom on down imaging, you could see him laying there and occasionally he would get off the bottom a few feet and you could see it clearly. I would guess him to be about 6' long.

Wow!!! That's unreal! Would have loved to see that on the down imaging! So did he finally break the line?

No actually he finally just came unhooked, caught a few more fish on it too before it actually got hung and broke.

Should knocked him in the head with a stump, Amos!

Surprise!

Saw a Huge gator in Alligator alley on Caddo last week. Right next to the boat. She was in 2' of water. I turned around and the way she did a 180 bout had change my britches!

Now that is a great pic.

That should make the rounds on the internet for sure.
