Noticed that they have not put up a fishing report this week for Ivie, which is usually always out by this time. Im guessing here, but maybe its because Jerry at Elm Creek has been out of work here lately? Im guessing he gives them the report, but that could be totally wrong.

Anyone care to offer me a couple tips/pointers for this weekend? Not a tournament fisherman at all, just like to get there when work allows. PM me if you would like. Thanks in advance.

I blew my lower unit up Saturday, so I haven't been able to be on the water this week. But, this is my experiences from last week, all the way up to Saturday.

The fish are post spawn now in 99% of the lake. I actually saw some spawning fish in one area on Friday that had moved up from the main river channel. Some of those fish that live in the main river channel are the last to come up and do it around this time. I saw some last year come up the second week in May.

The shad are moving up shallow and are causing the bass to follow them up in easily "catchable water depths". By this, I mean there are fish in two to 8 foot depths that are actively feeding on these shad. The gar were spawning last week in the very shallow depths and were feeding on these shad quite actively. This turned on the bass and made for some great days of numbers of fish.

Im still catching a lot of post spawn big sows out in the 12 to 15 foot depths on Carolina rigged Tornadoes and Texas rigged Senkos. The 912 color in the Yamamoto Senko is the best color right now. You might not like the Tornado worm, so use any worm you think is best.

Hope that helps you some.

Thanks for the report, hoping Saturday will be a good day, looks like the wind will be manageable that day.

As far as the tornadoes go, I love those things. You might be refering to the post I made yesterday, I was actually talking about the Grande Bass being poor quality the last time I bought them. I pick up a couple packs of F5's from Elm Creek each time Im up there.

Thanks bud..... Be sure and have a white or citrus shad lipless bait in the 1/2 ounce size tied on!! When the whites or gar start moving the shad, get in there with them and it will be a fish almost every cast for a few minutes. Also, be sure and use a trailer hook on the spinnerbait. The bass are knocking the fire out of it and several of the fish we caught were hooked in the outside of their mouth with the trailer hook. I like a 3/0 trailer the best.
