Try the other post about Alameda's of WX's. The main thing is to look for the patent number on the top concave part of the float. Walmart's is S.A. has them at most locations, might try one where your at. I'll post a picture of one later today if you still want it.

That was one of my older floats that had just been sitting in the garage for a while. The color has faded and the plastic has started to melt . But it still catches fish!

What the heck? I post two quick replies this morning, don't even look at the posts. Get in this evening and wow, makes me a bit I don't know if I deserve that type of sign........hmmm, there's others with the same type of thing, glad I'm not the only one, still not sure I deserve it. I got all set to post the picture I took and saw the mb pic.......Those are the Alamedas I like, been used and abused. Scottie look on the bright side, that trout you caught was bigger than the Alameda. DEL the Cajun Rattler is a knock-off, if you're in the trout thick it don't matter, if they're scattered the Alameda will outproduce the CR, seen it happen too many times. Look for the patent # on the top of the float. I tried to get a top picture of the patent # but the flash whitened( is that a word?) the whole float, will try on a sunny day, which should be sometime next week.

Thanks MB for the pic! Much appreciated And thanks TOO for all your support as well. I'll try and find some down at Roy's Tackle on the way, they might even have some at the Aransas Pass H.E.B...but I do know I have gone to 5 Wally Worlds here in Austin and have not found one yet not even the knock-offs! -DELRUS-

once you hit the salty air, you will find plenty of tackle......walmart in RockPort and Corpus should have them, if not Academy in corpus does.

On the popping corks, someone mentioned that you wrap your leader around the top and bottom of the cork a few times and then push the line into the groove? Is that how you rig it? I've bought a couple of these corks but have always had trouble rigging it. I've asked the salesperson working in the dept., and they never know how to do it either.
If you do wrap it around the top/bottom, I presume your line/leader will end up staying "twisted" after you take the cork off?
Thanks.

I have never had a problem with the line staying twisted after using them.

I use those all the time. Didn't know what they were called. $ 1.69 at Academy.

C, fish all day with a Alameda, and yes your leader will get the spiral "pig tail" on the leader where you wrapped the line and "snapped" it into the float. Make sure it "snaps" into the float. From where the stem flattens out to the main float, put your leader in the slot. Then looking down at the top of the float, and while holding the line and the float in the slot with the left thumb, wrap the line three times around the float stem from the bottom up to the top flap, then snap it into place, the top is now secure. Turn it over, straighten the line down the slot, and then where the line comes out the slot, hold with thumb, wrap three times from the bottom down and snap into place. Done! Takes about 20 seconds. Some folks put a half-hitch on their line(top and bottom) as it is wrapped the last time, I never do. Another suggestion, if using a braided line whether a baitcaster or spinning put the float on the mono/fluoro leader not the braided line. Ask scottie about that. Know another guy that lost 3 Alamedas that way before the light bulb came on. B, those at Academy are not Alamedas, they are the Cajun Rattler. I have never seen an Alameda at any Academy, in S.A., C.C. or Austin. Of course if they do as of Tuesday, then I am wrong, and apologize. Most of the HEB's in the Coastal Bend carry the Alameda's, along with the Wally's tackle stores, baitstands, ice houses, etc as SB said. Again, IMO, the "C-R" will do fine if you are on a good school of fish, if you're in scattered fish the Alameda willl work better. Again, my dos centavos.
