I just changed the front brake pads on my 98 Tahoe, and now in certain instances when I apply the brakes, the front end shakes like crazy. I can feel it in the steering wheel but not in the brake pedal, so I'm not thinking warped rotors. Any suggestions greatly apriciated.

Did you put everything back together right?

Sounds like a warped rotor to me, just one it is what mine used to do.

Double check your caliper bolts.

I had to replace my idler and pitman arm, all it did was make my truck wonder from side to side, didnt affect the breaks.

what i noticed on warped rotors was... if i felt it in the pedal mostly, it was the rear rotors. when i felt it mainly in the steering wheel, it was the front rotors.

Warped rotors will give you a pulsing feeling when applied. but not "shake like crazy" unless they are really bad, bad enough to see just looking at them.

I had warped rotors on my truck, could feel it in the pedal, steering wheel and it would make the truck shake, but it was only the pasenger side rotor that was warped.

You should have your rotors turned every time you change the pads, not only because of warp but also because of glazing, you will get better braking due to better friction surface, if not the new pads will glaze over very quickly

Be sure you tightened all of your lug nuts equally. Also be sure you didn't over tighten them so much that they warp whatever they are attached to. You can get them too tight. Me and my buddy tried this to see if it was true and you actually can over tighten your lugs so much that it causes other issues........Like runout in your rotor.

Man up. Fight the GOOD fight.
