Is a sense of humor part of being a Texan?
Do you recognize the term "tongue in cheek"?

Keerist some guy gets on here and asks for a ramp on the west side of the lake, some multi-generational week-ender that can't tell east from west gives him some erroneous information and a carpet bagging Yankee tries to give him some helpful information that is germain to the question, this of course has to digress to the point that someone whose ancestors held Davy Crocketts powder horn feels the need to teach lake history to the poor smuck that tried to help the Pilgram looking for a ramp.

Could be the longest sentence ever.

It ain't easy making it look easy.

I hope this rain has helped some, I put in at Fisherman’s Warf, it is a little shallow but protected from the wind and the closest ramp to me. Plus they have gas.
Kelly, I’ll be in a Red Tracker 175, if I see you I’ll holler.

Not gonna get into a argument, here, Fastguy. It was the last sentence that I didn't care for. But I did say that I may have misinterpreted that sentence.

If I stepped in your Post Toasties, I truly apologize, from my weekender heart.
All I said, other than that was what I thought about the ramp situation on Cedar Creek.

To my knowledge, after extensive research, I have concluded that I had no relatives or even close friends of relatives, fighting with Davy Crocket, or with Sam Houston. And let me say, if you are indeed, a Yankee, I want to welcome you to paradise and I am glad you got here as fast as possible.

Wow old people are grumpy. Reason I mentioned Caney is because to me he was asking the best ramp. I'm ok with being called a weekender, it a great thing to be. But I did grow up on the lake.

I would suggest Dons Port Marina, especially if it's windy. Its in a deep cove that is wind protected and it is located somewhat in the middle of the lake on the west side. The owners are great people and would love your business. After fishing you can come in and eat over looking the lake at the Tiki Hut located upstairs at Dons Port.

Dons port is absolutly in the perfect spot. Just a little tight sometimes. Also, Log Cabin, down on the south east end is pretty good.

He asked two questions: Best ramp and then he mentioned west side.

Best ramp by far is Log Cabin - wide, well paved plenty of parking, etc. $5 fee. No other ramp on the lake comes close. There have been a few instances of break ins there but I think that goes on all over the lake. Next best in my opinion is Caney City ramp. If you want to be on the west side then Don's Port.

By the way, I am not in any way related to Davy Crockett but my relatives fought with and against him in 1813 and 1814 during the Creek Wars.
As to who held his powder horn at the Alamo was that before or after he surrendered?

Ok, here is my list for BEST RAMP on the west side of lake is.....................drum roll please.....Don's Port.

If you want to launch on the east side, it's Log Cabin, followed by Caney City.

That just about sums it up.

Wow so many choices! I think I will at dons, I have never been on this lake and if I catch 1 fish I think it will a success. Going to try for bait it might be a waste of time but I will try some windblown points, the hump by the west side of the dam and look for birds (I know how to play nice and not blow through a school on plane)
BTW- I am always looking for a new fishing buddy or atleast someone to help me out with gas money. I normally fish texoma, but cedar creek sounds like it is doing better than texocean and its not 2 hours away.
