Ok so I started fishing the trinnty river, it seems like there are way more turtles this year than last, almost every cast, hits the bottom 30-45 sec later turtle on the line. It's so bad I can't fish cut bait or live bait so now I'm using punch bait any ideas tips or rigs that would help ? Maby I should use bigger bait ? 10-15in live drum? Or would turtles still mess with it?
Are there any areas along hwy 30 in fort worth that have a lower pop. Of turtles?

I would but it's to risky being that close to the road... There is one in my tackle but it's for the pesky crack heads and hobos that hang around the parts of the river I fish...

I don't get to fish it that often but in about 10 outings to the Trinity behind my house I have only landed one turtle. I have been using two rigs with Buffalo and one with live perch but then again I haven't been down there in a few weeks so things may have changed? Hoping to stay turtle free!

Where at on the trinity?
I have not had any issues with turtles, cut buffalo and shad. Catching some nice blues and decent flatties.

My uncle likes to use live bait on his lines the turtles seem to not find the bait as fast. On the subject about killin the turtles when you catch them. I have done it. I am just wondering if the game warden would do anything if your were caught killing the stupid things.

Deeper open water would be my .02! Or bigger bait and hooks.
it's the crapy days that make the good days that much better!!!
