I had a buddy of mine tell me that there are a bunch of sharks spawning in Cedar Bayou right now. Does anyone know anything about this? His source is a local guy from Rockport so I thought I would pass the word. You can fish for them but the real message here is if you go to Cedar Bayou wading be careful. I would think that all of the sharks might run off any other fish. Thoughts?

Sharks have always been there, my buddy lost 1/2 a trout, 3/4 of an oversized red, a whole stringer to them in the past. I was always fortunate...or lucky i guess. You will see the sharks zoom in with the surf. Make sure your stringer is far away from you as well as easily removable.
If they are out in the surf, that is just the way it is, if they are inside the cut and into the bays, well maybe they are spawning, but if Cedar Bayou has been dredged since the last time I was there and is a viable fish cut, then no matter what sharks are there, there are fish.... I will e-mail my buddy who was just down there and ask him if he made it out there.
Where is fish pass, or what are people calling fish pass? I am confused on this one?

Fish pass is a cut on the back side of Mustang Island State park that is accessible by car. It is #9 on the map at this link http://www.caller2.com/2001/april/29/0bigfishing.gif hope this helps. coming from Corpus you will pass over Fish pass and immediatly after it there is a road to the left. The guy I was talking to said that they are spawning in the cut it self. It has not been dredged but there is some water moving through the area (I think all of the spring rain flushed it out some) Apparently the sharks are in the Bayou itself spawning in the shallows.

Here's a little shark info from Doug Pike (Houston Chronicle) http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/outdoors/2611438
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach
