Whats your favorite way to set up a jig? And when you use one whats the best way to use it? Throw it under a boathouse and let it sink to the bottom or just twitch it on the way down? Does it even have to touch the bottom or is it better to just let it go half way down? I have had trouble getting bites lately and i have just been throwing it under the boat houses and popping it slowly of the bottom. What should i change in the way I fish them?

If it ain't hittin' the ground you better be settin' that hook! Unless you're throwing a swim jig I like to hop hop stop method. I'll hop it a few times then let it sit and repeat. Let the fish tell me what they want will let me know how fast or slow I need to fish it.

You have to decide which is more important.

not really a wrong way to fish a jig... just watch ur line carefully.

BH, really depends on the conditions, water depth, time of year etc...

My normal of first type of retrieve with a jig on a BH, is to throw it right against cover, especially inside and outside corners and poles... sea doo ramps are my favorite. let it fall and feed it a few feet of line. click the reel, hop it a few times and bring it back in and repeat.... if its fairly shallow, i will let it hit bottom and hop it off bottom... if its deep I will usually bring it back in before it hit bottom..

but you have to vary what your doing until you start gettin hit.

There are some good videos on youtube if the explanations aren't clear enough.

Docks are good to throw a jig under. I have had the best luck on the inside corners of a T shaped dock but I always fish the whole dock. Pitch it under and let it go to the bottom. If you don't feel it on bottom and it should be, set the hook. Always watch your line as it is falling. If it hits bottom and sits and no bite i give it a hop with a short quick snap. I am only trying to hop the jig not move it forward much at all. Do that all the way around under the dock.

Pitch it to timber on the edge of a creek channel or drop off and especially if there are two stumps or more together and always pitch to a cedar tree and work it through the limbs. Make several pitches all the way around a laydown log.

Pitch it to holes in grass or if you see a stump or laydown surrounded by grass, hit that for sure with several pitches.

Pitch it to and under flooded brush.

That is just the pitching technique, flipping is yet another technique but you will usually target the same areas that you picth to only at a shorter distance. You can also swim a jig, drag a football jig and stroke a jig. I usually use a 3/4oz flipping jig for stroking. I like to drag a 3/4 oz football jig down a road.
