Big Game, if you like to wach line coil off your spool like a watch spring.....

Suffix, if you like fishing with a rubber band, but still a pretty good line, and near zero memory. fish

+1 Big Game just use some Reel Magic or KVD Line and Lure to help with the memory problem.

Mason's Bass On

Ditto there, that's the best mono I have ever used. Hard to find though.

Used to be a big Berkley Big Game supporter, but I have bought WAY too many bad spools of there mono to go back.

Hands Down, Suffix Siege rocks! I use 14lb and 17lb with no problems on my topwater rigs. I have xero complaints about this stuff. The Camo color is a little weird, but I use the Low Vis green and for $7.98 for 300 yds it is a good deal. I have even hauled a few tree bass back to the boat! Try it out.

I can't believe we're talking mono and no one has mentioned Maxima. You want the best, buy Maxima. You want the best for the money, I dunno. There is no such thing as "best for the money" IMO, there is ONLY one best! I will tell you I have tried several of the Vicious lines and find them to be right up there with Berkley Vanish, if you know what I mean!

Hands down it's ANDE, holder of over 1,300 IGFA World records. Let's see Stren and Trilene match that. I have used Ande monofilament since the early 90's

+1, I have complete confidence in this line!

Many lines that are referred to as monofilament lines are really copolymer lines. McCoy makes an excellent copolymer. Mean Green was for a long time the only color of McCoy copolymer line. In the last few years Xtra Clear, and Clear/Blue Florescent have become available as well. There is no difference between the three colors of McCoy copolymer line except that the Mean Green has green dye in it, and the Clear/Blue Florescent has florescent blue dye in it, and the Xtra Clear has no dye in it. In all other aspects all McCoy copolymer lines are exactly the same.

I'm a sucker for trying something new, and I've tried many copolymer lines over the past decade. I keep coming back to P-Line CX-Premium as my favorite copolymer line.

I was a skeptic until earlier this year about Kevin Van Damm's Line and Lure Conditioner, but no more.

Spray KVD's L&L Conditioner on CX-Premium after you've spooled it onto a reel, and the casting performance is just great. CX-Premium has a very high tensile strength. This means that the actual breaking strength when compared with the line diameter is very high, indeed it's the highest of any copolymer that I've used, or know of.

A final note:

Do NOT go by the pound test rating of line in choosing line.
Go by LINE DIAMETER.

McCoy is just dead on typical when it comes to the pound test rating vs. line diameter, as is Original Stren. CX-Premium will run quite a bit smaller.

Another vote for P-Line CX, it's my current favorite. There is another contender though and it's the Gamma co-poly. Strong for the diameter and noticeably limper than CX. I'm using the 6# on my crappie spinners, it tests at 13.5#'s according to Gamma! A little more expensive than the CX but, so far, worth it!

I agree with Notch. If your going to use mono Ande or Big Game is the way to go. Tackletour did the test on their machines on breaking strengths and both were top dogs compared to the rest. I've used trilene XT and hated getting hung up. Felt like I was going to destroy my gear just trying to break it loose. The XL is good too and cheap. Been folks reel in 80lb bluecats on trilene 20lb, can't imagine it not hauling a big bass "PIG" out of the grass and brush with a mouth full of salad into the boat. Braid might might be safer for that though if you're doing a tournament.
