It will give you almost a 17% boost in your horsepower and it will help more than a prop will not to mention its cheaper than buying a new motor. But if you do it you will probably need a new prop anyway....

Any idea where I can pick up the carbs and I'm assuming they will need to be tuned by a tech?

Get a stainless prop if thats not enough then get a larger motor. You will lose all reasonable value on that 2010 motor throwing carbs at it. The difference between the 50 hp and the 60 hp may also include the timing advance plus rev limiter so there is no garantee that you will get anything extra form the modifications. You could just screw up your fuel mileage.

Tracy Lee, I have the 2006 175 with a 75hp optimax, jackplate and stainless steel prop from Steve and by GPS my boat runs 42mph with full load max rpm. Steve will go beyond doing you right, and when I get my next boat I'll be going to his shop first thing to set it up. My motor weighs more than yours and I run an extra battery for a 24volt trolling motor, but I've come to realize these boats just weren't made for speed. If you want the best performance setup Steve will take care of you, but as Steve showed me the numbers don't lie.

I appreciate all the input guys. The forum sure makes life easier. Steve, I'll get with you about that prop in a couple of weeks.

It's more than just the carbs that are different, port timing is different also. Just putting the carbs will be a net increase of maybe 4 hp which would be less than a 1 mph gain.

might be easier and cheaper to just trade the 50 for an older 90... but since its a 2010, once traded, warranty is gone frown
