This one has probably been around forever but I just saw it. I've pulled trailers all my life so it is second nature for me to hold the steering wheel at the top and turn the opposite direction that I want the trailer to go but if you hold the steering wheel at the bottom you steer in the direction you want to trailer to go. I've got a couple of kids that I need to teach and I think this will make it eaiser.

I was taught the opposite. Place hand at the bottom of the steering wheel and turn wheel the direction you want the trailer to go while using your side mirrors.

Just jump in there and start backing up, you'll know soon enough if you've got it or not.

My dad took me to the high school parking lot and had me back the truck and trailer all over, between poles and around corners till I was comfortable with it.

He insisted that I use the mirrors and not look over my shoulder. I still use my mirrors. If I look over my shoulder I turn the wrong way every time.

I never thought about holding the bottom of the wheel. At 59 years old I don't think I will be changing now.
