Just curious what you use for pitching and flipping? If you setup is $$$ can you suggest a setup that isn't more then $300 for rod/reel.

I use a quantum accurist pt 7:0:1 high speed reel (bought when they went on sale) , matched with a Falcon Low Rider heavy 6'10" LFC-6-1610 S ( i bought when academy had their rod riot). If you bought these two at regular price you would be looking at about $250 or so, but I bought them on sale and spent way less than that. Just have to pay attention to the papers.

I have three of them for different baits. 1 is cataway xp3 grass master braid with 200e7 curado, 2 is castaway skeleton flippin stick with 200e7 curado, 3 is a duckett 7'3 mh with a curado 200e7. each rod has its own baits they throw the best. You can get all three for less than 300 in good used shape

Quantum KVD Signature 7:0:1

The reel costs me like $80 and the rod I got on sale at the Houston Fishing Show for $65 because of a cosmtic error. It was a $269 rod at the time new.

You can get a KVD reel and something like a Abu Vertias/BPS Carbonlite rod for under $200 total and have a sweet setup. Or get a Shimano Citica and a Abu Vertias or BPS Carbonlite for a little over $200.

Depending on lure weight and cover being targeted I use a Zillion 7.1 reel and either a Dobyns Champion 735C, 736C or 765C rod. Usually with 20lb Sunline Sniper FC or Daiwa Samurai Braid 55lb or 70lb.

So no one uses baitcasters that are made for pitching and flipping only? Looks like every one is using your normal baitcaster setups.

My KVD Signature has the flippin' switch on the side that i can flip to "pitch/flipping' mode. Makes flippin/pitchin' a whole lot easier.

All 2000 year era Daiwas have what is called auto clutch which allows you to simply push back up on thumb bar after a flip/pitch is made and reel is engaged. You do not have to turn reel handle. It is a designed feature and basically makes all Daiwa baitcasters more flipping/pitching friendly.

I remember that now. I bought two of them during a sale last year and I just didn't end up liking them so returned them. Wish I tried using them for pitching now. I'm trying to get better at it and have been practicing a lot more lately.
