if i was in the top 12 against kvd or any of those guys, id be tight lipped about what i had tied on too. just me though. theres an article in bassmaster this month with ike talking about power shakey head fishing.he mentions everything from zoom to lft to netbait to gambler to berkley to xcite. i dont respect him more or less than the next guy because he didnt just say berkley though. bottom line is they are doing what they have to in order to stay at a point where they can do what they love successfully. not trying to stir the pot..just stating opinion.

This is what makes a forum like the TFF such a refreshing source. There are only a few on here that are speaking on a sponsors behalf, and those post are usually labeled.

It does make a good point about the fact that all this stuff works. What's your favorite? We all have em,' and get to share that here.

Hey Biggil I always tell you the truth when you ask me at the ramp what I caught them on.

Did he pick up a rod with his sponsors bait on it to fish with during the interview?

I know two of the guys interviewed on stage Saturday told complete fabrications on what they were catching fish on. To quote the immortal Elwood Blues, "it's not a lie, it's just bull@%$!" smile

What if he is selling his sponcer on stage but he really does not like the product. Then you want to give it a try and hate it, you just spent money that no one likes. That is kinda like faulse advertisment.

Thanks,

Marketing and advertising are a normal part of business. Telling lies is not. Sponsors can easily be promoted without lying to people. There is no requirement from sponsors to only use their products in a tournament.

If the best bite is on a crank bait, Zoom is not going to tell the people they sponsor that using a crank bait is not allowed. They want the people they sponsor to do well so their product name will be seen more on the pro's shirt, boat, truck etc. If the best bite is on soft plastics, then anyone sponsored by Zoom sure needs to be using Zoom soft plastics.

Anyone lying about what they are using is demonstrating a serious lack of personal integrity. If you are a true professional with the ability to perform at the professional level, there is no need to lie.

I dont care. I try not to get caught up in the hype of what pros are pushing. I worry about what works for me and thats about it. I look at my dad as a role model, not strangers. And likewise I try to be a role model to my daughter. What they do has no bearing on my life at all.

The only time I think fishermen are lying is when their mouth moves.

I am very much for more integrity in sports, including bass fishing....

but if I were out there fishing for a 6 or 7 figure prize... heck even a 4 figure... I am not gonna give up my game so my competitors can use it... now saying im using a specific bait that im not actually using at the time..well, that is a little different but elites pros are salesman, they are gonna push product no matter what... while they may throw a good piece of info out there from time to time, its always tainted by product promotion.

there are times when what your sponsor carries just aint what the fish are hittin at that time... so then its time to catch em how you can and use the camera to take advantage of plugging your sponsors.... like i said, it may not be right....

....but it is, what it is.... nothing more.

BTW- when are people gonna learn... there is NOTHING on television that is completely without some slant or lie to it... NOTHING... not even the NEWS.... never ever ever is it completely true...

you gotta learn to sift through the BS and grab the pieces of truth hidden within the BS....

The first guide I fished with on Lake Fork did exactly what was described here. I used to read all his reports on the TFF saying that they were slaying the fish on Senkos, swim Senkos, Kreatures, and other Yamamoto products. Well, when it came time to fish with him, we threw nothing but Zoom Super Flukes and whenever he would open his storage compartments, I would see dozens of bags of Zoom plastics and not one bag of Yamamotos! Then, after a few days, he put out another report and still said that he and his clients were catching everything on Yamamoto plastics! I didn't blame him because I know he was just trying to make a living in this tough economy, but I just thought it was funny as hell. He did a great putting us on a lot of fish that day. Too bad he got out of the business about a year later.
