I spoke earlier today with the folks at Kontiki Beach Condos in Fulton (on the Fulton Beach shoreline north of Rockport and immediately after the southeast side of the Copano Bay Causeway).

I get asked, more than anything, where folks can "catch fish without a boat." Usually, based on experience, I send them to Kontiki Beach condos. They are nice (many newly remodeled), affordable, family-oriented, and best of all, set up with two lighted fishing piers from which I have caught countless trout on everything from baitcasting gear at Rat-L-Traps to fly rods and Clouser Minnows. fish

It's very unusual, but management tells me that there are still several condominiums available for Memorial Day weekend. Maybe gas prices are having a big impact; who knows? Either way, this is a great chance to enjoy all the amenities of a resort getaway with quality fishing right out the back door. You can also wade-fish or kayak the shoreline on either side of the piers. This time of year, a lot of guides actually bring their partys over to the Kontiki area via boat, as the Copano Bay-to-Aransas Bay pass area is a really consistent producer.

Drive safe this weekend, and good fishing to all ...
