I'm new to fly tying and I am getting ready to tie a bunch of Clouser's stir ( my fav fly ). My question is what size dumbell eyes do I need for size 2 hook clousers? I can only get Brass ones by the way. Either: Medium - 5/32 or Large - 3/16
Thanks!

I use small for like 8-4, medium for 4-1, and large or extra large for anything 1/0 or larger. I also use really large bead chain a lot more than dumbells.

Do want the "dumbell" eyes for weight or action?
Gonna fish shallow or deep?
Critical questions. You can use any size you want if for depth control - even bead chain eyes with a few wraps of lead wire on hook shank.
If deep water use sink tip fly line or full sinking shootine heads and eye weight make no duference.
Tie your clousers on 60 degree bend jig hooks and they will run hook point up with very little weight when bulk of materials tied on barb side hook shank - hope this makes sense - if not I'll post a photo or so.

N.E. Texas 2 acre and 1/4 acre ponds.
