Hey Mud-Bugger. If you are looking for a KeelShield, let me know. I'll make you a deal on a certificate for one that we won in a BassChamps Tournament.

Bass Bustin Texan - It sounds like your Game Warden does not have a KeelShield - it must be one of the others. KeelShield is warrantied for as long as you own your boat - no matter what happens.
North Texas Fiberglass - Michael - I am concerned that you have a customer with a KeelShield on that has had problems now with 2. Our warranty rate is under 2% for the 9 years we have been on the market. To our knowledge we have never spoken with your company - how did the customer get his first one warrantied? Please call us and ask for Scott or Sue at 888-594-5335.

He bought the boat with one on it, and it came off. He purchased another one and put it on himself and it came off.
He was tired of them coming off and didn't want to have to worry about it anymore.
I do not want to make it sound like the KeelShield is a bad product. It is not. It is a very cost effective part. However, the 3M tape is going to eventually get wet and start to seperate. I know you warranty the product for as long as the customer owns the boat, but we see most of them coming off after they have sold the boat and are the second owners. I know you said the warranty rate is 2% of the ones covered by the original owners. What is the warranty rate of the product once the original owner sells the boat and it starts to come off?
I do not want this to be a mud slinging topic, but there are items that the consumer needs to know.
This is straight from the Keelshield's website:
"KeelShield Warranty - Suggested Retail Pricing The KeelShield Warranty KeelShield Inc.'s ready to install kit Still carries the best warranty of any keel protector in the business. A 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee to the original purchaser. A Lifetime Warranty covering adhesion and abrasion wear through. Anything that happens to your KeelShield is covered. There is NO FINE PRINT in our warranty.
Under the toughest conditions, KeelShield protects your investment ! Look for KeelShield as featured in 3M's product brochure and other promotional literature spotlighting the extraordinary dependability of 3M's adhesive systems. Click on this Link to 3M Worldwide and read an article on KeelShield."
This is from Hamby's Website:
"Enjoy the Convenience and Protection of Hamby's Protector and Save Thousands in Repair Costs and Gain Hundreds in Resale Value For the life of your boat!!"
We have installed MANY Hamby's for customers here on the forum. We guarantee the installation for the life of the boat and the life of the Hamby's. Even if they sell the boat. As mentioned, the Keelshield is a very cost effective product. If the customer does not want to spend the extra money for the Hamby's, then we encourage them to put something on the boat. We would not point them in your direction if we did not believe in the product.

Michael,
Our warranty rate of under 2% is all warranties regardless of it being the original owner or not. When we process a warranty we ask the customer to verify it is our product - this would be a copy of their receipt or a picture of the product. We take care of our customers who have our product regardless if they can produce a receipt or not. I can't include customers in our warranty rate who don't contact us. Out of the warranties we do get a large portion are because they are installed wrong or the customer has decided that they don't need our suggested length and get a shorter piece. Along with this we get customers who have a problem with their keel protector, think they have KeelShield when they don't - they have one of our competitors - this happens on a weekly basis.
It would appreciate it if you would forward me the place where you got your information on the 3M tape you are talking about. KeelShield uses an acrylic based 3M adhesive system specifically adapted for our product and the marine industry. You have been given false and incorrect information about our adhesive, it is in NO way affected by water, or you might be confusing KeelShield with another keel protector. If the adhesive system we used was affected by water we would have been out of business a long time ago.
The one thing the customer should be sure of is that the company they purchase the product from stands behind it and KeelShield does.
We thank you for the support you have given us in the past and would encourage you from now on to contact us if you ever run into a customer who is having problems with our product.

Hey Scott, Maybe you should "donate" one to me, your neighbor...I live in MO.. ...I'll install it on my boat see if it stays on or not...and then I let you know if it falls off, cuz I'm the second owner of my boat!!...so I should be good to go!! Rick

I do want to say this about the Keelshield and then I am putting this one to bed.
Folks, read my earlier post. The Keelshield is a good product. I do not want anyone to think that it isn't. I have been familiar with them for years, and will not discourage anyone from putting one on their boat. It can save you a ton of money in repairs.
This has not been a mud-slinging thread and is not intended to be. Scott and I have been emailing each other back and forth behind the scenes and I think he will agree, we share many of the same views.
He works for a company that has a very good brand recognition and a good product history.
Keelshield does a very good job and is a sponsor of this forum. So please do not think I am trying to say something negative. I have been very supportive of them in previous post.
