If memory serves correct.....I'm thinking 90. But I have also had some V-6 mercs go 120-130. But whatever...constant pressure between cylinders is very important.

If memory serves correct.....I'm thinking 90. Think your memory is still ok. Tha production 3.0 is little lower than tha "little" motors........

90 is on the low side and 120 is on the high side, they vary a bit from motor to motor, but a fresh cylinder is 110 average (110 is our target here at Texas Machine Works) and I build a bunch of em.

I just a compression test and 2 had 100, 3 had 95 and 1 had 94. Is that good or is it time for a rebuild?? It has gotten sluggish coming out of the hole. This motor has alot of hours, I would be scared to hook it up to a machine and actually see how many hours are really on it!!! It has been 1 very reliable motor, just seems to be down on power now.. Ideas???

NOT TO BAD, HAS UR LOAD INCREASED, IE. MORE TACKLE BATTERYS, BIGGER TM. MAYBE A PROP ISSUE. No jimmy, the load hasn't changed, it runs ok with just m in the boat. If i add a 2nd person it is taking for ever to get on plane. After planeing out it runs fine. A few weeks ago it took off ok with 2 people, but like I said, it has alot of hours on the motor. I used to fish 4-5 times a week for years.

I WOULD CHECK THROTTLE FOR FULL OPEN, CHECK THE HUB IN THE PROP, HELL EVEN CHANGE PROPS LOTS CHEAPER THE REBUILD

Please heed this advice...
That motor needs a thorough de-carb session. I like merc power tune, but whatever you choose, use something and soon. A shock treatment will get you back to square.... Don't do it, and you're looking soon at a stuck ring, then you'll be looking for a powerhead.

Pat is right! Mercury power tune dissolves gum, varnish, deposits and clogs in the fuel system and combustion chambers. Also after you do this it is a good idea to run Quickleen and some Seafoam in every tank ( use the directions on the bottle(s)). The Quickleen keeps carbon deposites from forming in the motor and the seafoam helps stabilize the fuel from the effects of ethanol. I also use Marine stabil . I have had no trouble with carbon or fuel system build up using these. I have a 99 225 EFI. Just some info
