The elements have left my windshield with a film that I cannot get off. I'm damn-near porthole driving. I've tried wipes, sprays, and detailing. Does anyone know of a window "polish" that will get this stuff off?

TIA

Steel wool?

Try some vodka. No kidding, friend of mine bought a house boat and tried everything in the world to get this film off of the door. Vodka worked.

You might try one of those sponges with the scrubber side on it?

Coke. Pour a can or two over the windshield and it should eat away the haze. You might also try Comet.

Use one of the headlight restoration kits from your local auto parts store or if it's really bad you can get 1200-1500 grit sandpaper that's made for polishing airplane windshields at Harbor Freight. Not to knock the Coke suggestion, but it leaves a sticky mess in your boat that bugs love to get stuck in.

guys guys quit with the steel wool, sandpaper and booze, (dam that even sounds like a shop accident waitin to happen).
get some pumice free hand cleaner like gojo or whatever you can find BUT NO PUMICE. use it and rinse with water, this should get just about anything off, I have used it to clean an entire truck before waxing and it works great.

Did you put Rain-X on the inside of the wind shield? If'n you did you may be in trouble. Coke or vinegar is good for cleaning. Anything. grin

I have found that Rain-X will destroy the windshield...I have even had to replace windshields from this before I realized what was causing it...also buy new wiper blades when you try cleaning it...neighborhood kids may have put a light coat of transmission fluid across the blades if you yelled at them for walking thru your grass...don't ask me how I know this and no I wasn't the guy yelling about the grass.
