They take a little getting used to. I've been tubin close to 20 years now. Depends on what you buy. I use a fishcat 4 $195.00 @ BPS. Far as I am concerned the best buy for the $$. Stockin foot waders, and slip on Body Glove snorkel fins. If you'd like to give it a shot, I can show you how and put you on some crappie.

Night time can be kind of freaky, especially your first few times out in shorts.

I use a Cadis Navigator II and Paddle Pushers instead of fins. Slower then fins but lets you fish in the direction you are moving. No problem maneuvering. I have used them at night, even in FL where the thought of big gators is ever in your mind. You just have to be prepared and think about what you are doing - and at night you should always have someone with you.
I have a new Bass boat and still use my tube often, in a lot of situations it is a lot easier than fooling with the boat and I absolutely believe you catch more fish from a tube then a boat.

In general, I'm not so sure the even big boats are all that safe at night, and a tube would be worse. Of course, it depends on how and where you will use them, what your skill is, and how well you know the water.

No offense on the paddle pushers as opposed to fins, but I can promise you that I can go in any direction that you can with my fins. It takes time to learn, but it is very doable.

Tube fishing has come a long ways since I last did it. Years ago you would sew canvas around a truck inner-tube to make a seat then air up the tube. In Mississippi there were a lot of cottonmouths. Never knew any tubers that got bite, but I sure would not do it at night.

I've been tubing at night, but only because I mis-timed the trip back. I don't lke it. Quite freaky .... and i'm scared of the dark.

Thinking of getting a tube myself....or a toon....heck I cant decide lol....but the tube does look like less hassle for sure, especially hauling it around! I watched a fella tube around the marina at East Fork catching crappie a month or so ago while a bunch of us just sat there on the bank watching him! And I dont mean a few either! That about sold me! I'm thinking about hooking up with Mr Wilson myself to see if its a fit or not in a week or two work permitting! Crimson

IMO fins are way better. It's like comparing a 70 johnson to a 150 v-max as far as speed wise. plus it is easier on my legs.

Night tubing in the summer is AWESOME! Some of you guys should join us up in the Grasslands this summer. It's cooler, and we absolutely slay the fish.
