My family is planning a trip down to South Padre in May and I thought it would be alot of fun if the guys could do a half day fishing trip or so. Has anyone used a guided fishing tour down there and would recommend someone? Most of us will be flying down so we won't have our fishing gear with us.

I just got back from S. Padre and went out on Capt Murphys boat by the Sea Ranch. I caught a 43 inch 34 lb redfish and my limit of red snapper to 14lbs. It was an 8 hr trip for $50. Nearly 70lbs of fish caught that day. They also have a 4-5 hr bay trip for $15 that is supposed ot be very good. They are a family run business and really treat the customers well and know where the fish are. Check them out.

Thx for the information...I will give him a call. I am a freshwater fisherman so saltwater fishing will be new but I can't wait. It will be a blast catching fish I have never caught before.

Check these guys out if your looking for a 1/2 to full day trip. I have been out with them 3 times and they are great. Great Captain and crew. We SLAYED the snapper every time. They provide everything you need as well. I am going back there in June. I cant wait! BTW; Get there EARLY to get a back corner; tip your deck hand $20 and they will treat you like royalty the whole trip. They were slipping ladyfish into my bait bucket and I was catching 4 snapper to everyone elses 1. They had a limited supply. Oh yea, and GET THERE EARLY! I usually get my ticket the day before and ask what time they board in the morning. Get there at least an hour before that if you want a corner. And you do. Trust me.

Have fun and good luck!
