Have some stale hamburger buns and remember hearing some things in the past about this being used for catfish bait. I know that running it under some tap water and rolling it into balls works, but does anybody have an old recipe that works better?

works good as perch trap bait. Never messed with it for catfish bait.

I got a few monster channels off bread balls and a couple of blues in the 10-20. Pound range from the river when I was fishing the trinnity and ran out of bait a few times but I would stick to shad aka chad for blues And punch bait for channels

i used to use saltine crackers for bait at a little pond when i was younger. never caught anything big, but i did catch a lot of small cats that way. most were 10 to 12 in.

Stale bread- honey- cottonseed meal- over ripe bananas- tad bit of vanilla- peanut butter worked like a charm for me at P.K. lake back in the 80's and 90's. Got the recipe from an old timer that used to come up from Burleson, he used a whopping #4 treble and a piece of dough the size of an egg. The first time I saw him casting it out with an Abu 5000, it went a country mile and he hauled in a dozen of the prettiest channel cats you ever did see. So go for it and tie your rod to something because big Buffs like it, too. I caught one that bottomed out the 32 lb scale that was at the old Hardwick-Nash baithouse.

Mekong Cats are caught on bread balls, and nothing brings in the cats like feeding the ducks around here

I keep all the kitchen scraps in ziplock baggies; cover them in garlic salt and oil and keep em in the freezer until I go out to the water. Any particular kind of chum you'd recommend?
