What does it it mean when most of the crappie are black ? Never noticed this before. And by the way, new to this crappie thing.

Male "White" crappie like to put on their tuxedo this time of year..Unless your talking about a black crappie

if they are rel shallow, how far out are the girls from being shallow ? 2 to 3 ft deep water are the males

The females don't come in and stay like the males, they move in and out dropping a few eggs each trip. But usually they are not too far away, most of the time on the 1st closest break.

Steve Perfect answer.  Yep they travel more than folks think. When you do find 'em where they are traveling to then you can pick them off one by one with patience.
