Here's a pic before and after. I don't have many of the house itself but you can get the point. Our yard was like a golf course and is huge. I was really planning on coming up over Memorial Day and maybe I can book something at the cliffs. It won't be the same but it will be PK at least. We are insured and are not to sure which direction we are going from here.

That is a beautiful spot, that hasn't changed. Sorry for the loss and grief.

Happiness is not a destination, it is a journey ... or something like that. When you start over you can put in that bigger garage and new this and that. Hopefully no one was hurt, if that is the case could have been a lot worse. I have a friend that had a cabin in their family for many many years, burnt to the ground, total loss. They were heart broken over it, but they are having a blast creating a new set of memories and a new family cabin.

Take care buddy.

Wow brother!! Hang in there, your alive. I've been though that before and there is no way anyone can understand the loss unless they have been there too. God's speed in the recovery.

I have 2 friends that live there also and haven't been able to reach them.

My wife works with the wife of the man that runs the fisheries in N Texas, they were evacuated yesterday.

Pretty bad news

Thanks Gents. I plan a big party there every Memorial Day and we are looking at renting at The Cliffs. It won't be the same but it will be PK. I just have to convince them to shell out a little cash to stay there. I wonder if they'll give me a deal if I tell them my situation?

I really hope we can get together and rebuild. That spot is magical to me.

So very sorry for your loss but at least it's worldly things. I know that's not much comfort.

Sorry for yours and everyones loss. 150 homes and counting. PK will not be the same for many years to come. My old shack of a place is still standing I think. Its been a long week worrying about every one at the lake. Thank God no one has been killed.

Russ, I'm so sorry for your loss, and just as many times in my life I'm at a complete loss for words to try to offer comfort.

I am in the same boat as Randy, we were together Sunday when the fires flared up again near our places and law enforcement got very serious about evacuating, it was hard to leave and drive to Tyler not knowing if it would be there when we returned. So far Randy and I both believe we have been spared and I am truly thankful.

PK is a very magical place and for many of us our "happy place" If you make it up to the lake please feel free to look Randy or I eiter one up, I'm sure a big hug a cool beverage and a place to just sit and visit will be waiting. Who knows? maybe a "happy place".

I really appreciate it bigjim1. I'll probably do that. What also sucks is that I just bought a new boat and was really looking forward to doing some fishing. I'm in Houston and have to stay for long periods of time so that idea is shot now unless I stay at the cliffs or something.

There have been two deaths. They were both fire fighters. My prays go out to you and all the families that are affected. My prays especially go out to the fire fighters that put their lives on the line to help protect others. Lets pray for rain.

I grew up in that area and went to school with Cy and Shawn Gibson from the Gainesbend area. Prayers sent for continued SAFETY and restoration.

Hay we relate. My brother and his wife were asleep in the middle of a blizzard when there dog jumped on the bed barking and going nuts. My brother got up to send the dog down stairs when he opened the door fire was comming up the steps. He gathered up his young boy threw him out the window in the deep snow. Then threw his wife and her purse out, threw the dog out, and jumped out just as the fire busted in his bedroom. Whole entire house burned to the ground in 20 minutes. his wife was crying . My BRO. commented to her what are you balling about if it wasnt for the dog we all would been burnt alive. POINT BEING at least you werent in it BRO. The Lord spared yalls lives, Ya Know!
