Handled both and prefer the Carrot Stix. Much lighter and more sensitive than the Skeet Reese.
You know the old saying
If it floats, flys, or f___s it is always cheaper to rent!
You have to decide which is more important.

I would recommend that you check out the Falcon Bucoo.

Ok let me rephrase... when I say handled I mean fished with. Carrot Stix are by far the best bang for the buck. The new Wild series has landed me several fish over 8 this year being flipped onto the boat/bank.

The new Kistler mini mags are real nice for a med priced rod the Z-Bones are fantastic for a high end rod the Bone is also made in the USA.

I really like to Bucoo rods too, but you sound like there is a significant difference between the falcon and the Dobyns Savy. What do you notice between the 2 sticks? Is the Dobyns really noticably better?

Both have real good sensitivity, match up well with the reels I use(curados and revos). The only noticeable(to me) difference is on the hookset the dobyns seems to have more backbone..I didn't mean to come across that the dobyns is leaps and bounds better. There are now two rods that I would spend my money on and these are the two.

I appreciate the response. I have a Bucoo and a Lowrider and really like both. I have been leaning more toward the Bucoo because I can't really tell any difference, so why spend the extra $40 for the lowrider.
I really like the feel of the Dobyns. Maybe I'll give one a shot. But you know how it is with this stuff....there is always another brand that is cool too. I may buy a Duckett instead.
Thanks again...

the Dobyns have better actions and are very sencitive.

is this for an all purpose rod? or do you have a specific type of bait you'll use it for?

I had the skeet and as soon as I got a veritas I sold the skeet reese. It is an ok rod but I do not think it was worth the money at all, there are a lot better rods in the same price range. Haven't used a carrot stick so I can't say anything about that

Neither. The Skeet is waaaaay too heavy and parabolic. He can't even can't even land fish on 'em.
