Rpie

Read this article on my website. I have covered chumming and baiting a hole extensively using a variety of different chums, including range cubes. Should answer most of your questions.

There is also an article called Punch Bait 101 that covers a lot of information that goes hand in hand with fishing for channel catfish.

Best of luck!

chummin' wont bring catfish in really but if they are awready in the area it will concentrate them where you need them to be ... the higher protein range cubes will sink ... seems like 20% & above

I bought a bag of range cubes last summer and never could tell the difference. I did however find a use for them. I put them in my perch trap last weekend and threw it in a creek. Caught 15 over night so they work for that. I still plan on trying them in a pond for some channel action for the nephews this summer. My .02

Get a 50lb bag of milo, put in 5lb of soybeans and one cheap tall boy beer. Set it out in the sun covered for a couple of weeks. Albert is right - chum wont make cats come to you if you are where they aint. But if you put this stuff out where they tend to be anyway - IE: drop offs, windward shorelines, timber on creek channels -you'll fill up a box with eaters.

i like wheat better but milo will work add 1 cup sugar and 1 beer put it in a 5 gallon bucket about half full then cover with 1 inch of water don't seal lid check it everyday because it will absorb the water. as far as drawing in fish it will pull them to you if they are in the area. if you have not got a bite in 20-30 min with chum move on.

I baited w/ range cubes this weekend while fishing w/ punch bait and hooked in to a few good buffaloes. Funny b/c I never have caught any before in lakes where I know they are there. I think it had something to do w/ the range cubes? I've seen a few people mention buffalo for bait. Are they good for channels and blues when you cut em up?

baiting does work I buy a 50lb bag of corn and divide it into 5 gallon buckets. about 6 in of corn in each bucket then fill the buckets with water and cover the buckets. Then let it set outside for a week or longer this stuff smells very bad. I have caught blue cats that have the dang corn still in their mouth when i catch them on my rod.
