To the best that I recall there was a thread about K&N air filters on here 3-4 maybe 5 months ago but I did not really pay much attention.. Now a buddy of mine talked me into putting one on my truck so I'm intrested now.. What has been the outcome of y'all who have them...and if you can tell any difference in performance and gas milage.. Me, no, everything seems to be the same.. I have a Silverado 1500 as a work truck and a toe truck also...toe a boat maybe twice a month..

From what I have been told by some friends of mine... Is that the biggest diffrence is when you have the air filter system and exhaust together.

My suggestion is do them both. Better air in and better air out means more power.

Above your post, click on Search. then in the Search Words box, type in K&N then click Perform Search. That will pull up 4 (including this one) discussions where K&N was mentioned in the last year.

I tend to agree with dafish & dlee, the use of the K&N filter with the reduced backpressure exhaust systems will probably be the best.

I have the K&N in my 2002 F250 4x4 Diesel. I do not notice much difference...just put it in because all the other diesel owners said it was better flow for the engine. I do not have any exhaust mods. Plus...for $35 and a lifetime warranty...why not!

I use the K&N filter with a Gibson performance exhaust, my engine is a 4.8 liter V8 stock at 270 hp. With this exhaust/intake upgrade I am getting just over 300hp under good conditions and up to 320hp with optimal conditions.

The performance of the system is directly related to humidity, air tempurature and engine loading. The cooler it is outside the higher the oxygen content in the air. Humidity we are all familiar with, as it goes up oxygen content falls. Loading of the engine is what percentage of the actual power you are using for moving the weight of the vehicle + passengers and cargo in the vehicle + trailer and it's payload.

If you want to improve the output of your engine you will need to open up back end flow or you will notice little to no difference. The stock exhaust is actually smaller than the pipes coming out of the exhaust manifolds on a chevy truck due to EPA standards.

With the upgraded exhaust/intake I get 1-1.5 more miles per gallon towing and 2-4 more miles per gallon under standard driving conditions.

I put a K&N filter on my 2002 Suburban and nothing else and improved my gas mileage by 1 mile per gallon, so it should well pay for itself, plus it seems to have a little more get up and go.

Put K&N air filter and Flowmaster exhaust system on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 and picked up about 3 more miles per gallon of gas. I now get between 14 and 15 unless I am pulling my HEAVY Champion 176, then it is about 9 miles per gallon. Been very satisified with both..Ron

$59 dollars for a lifetime airfilter. I'll take it as soon as the stock in my area. Replaced mine with a regular stock air filter, due to the above conditions, and my gas mileage went up. Think it has more to do with a dirty air filter that the K&N air filter. I dunno. But it sure is a good deal.

You just clean it when ever it gets dirty. Mine needs cleaning now. It has a MILLION MILE warranty. My truck will never see a million miles so it is a lifetime.

If I remember correctly the thread was about Flowmaster exaust systems. I put the 2 chambered Flowmasters on my 2000 Silverado, with the 327 in it. I was told at the time, the smaller engines like the 327 had a little louder roar, so I was adviced to get the 3 chambered. Luckily, I was told by a fella in his early 20's that I was too young to worry about the roar, so he talked me into the 2 chambered. Thank goodness, I LOVE THE ROAR!!!
Anyway, I then put the K&N Air filter in it, and BOOM!!! I can fill up my truck, and get over 500 miles on one tank now. This is mostly highway miles. Try it, you won't be disapointed!!

I've already put the K& N on my 2001 Dodge 1500 and have been looking for a reasonable place to have the Flowmaster dual chamber installed. Anyone have any recommended places to have it done in the Arlington/Fort Worth Area?

Yea, caught a few and just a few at the 14th set of Pylons from the Lynn Creek Side. I did, however, go up to RayBob last weekend and did pretty good. Most of the morning was a bust with only one large sandie but the afternoon produced some nice slabs off the pylons at the bridge near Pecan Creek Ramp. I didn't tie off, just trolled thru them and picked up from 1 to 3 slabs at each, missing only a few. Kinda surprised cuz it's my first time at that lake that I didn't catch a boatload of dinks mixed in with the keepers. Everyone says that the spawn hasn't fuly happened up there yet but I only found a lot of eggs in 3 of the 22 that I brought back.

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 w/ Cummings Power. Mods include Blue Chip power module
(awsome!), 300 H.p. injectors, 45mm turbo housing upgrade, B&D 4" Turbo back exhaust, Center Force Clutch.
I darn near sucked a standard filter through the intake. Switched to K&N fliter to get a much better flow. I cant help you with performance and economy changes due to my lead foot and relentless desire to challenge Ford and Chevy diesel owners.
