i Have hydrolic steering on my 06 225 skeeter and i was following my brother home from the lake today who drove the boat because my contacts fell out(did nto want to pull the boat not being able to see well). I noticed the motor had a little play in it bouncing right to left like teh steering was loose or something. I usually pull it and dont notice it. Do all the motors this heavy sway a little bit side to side. i had it trimmed up on the transom saver with a bungie wrapped around it. there is no vetical up and down play in the motor, just side to side. the play is like one inch or less side to side...am i just paranoid ?

Check your fluid levels had to fill mine recently. The res. on my 2005 225 fills on the dash right below the windsield drivers side. My steering was starting to get really loose before I filled it now is fine.

Steering may need bleeding!

Many motors will do this while using the "standard" type transom saver attached to the trailer. Vibration from the trailer is transferred to the motor, causing wear and tear on the motor and transom. Some of the newer type transom savers use steering clips to eliminate the side to side movement of the motor. You might want to take a look at the Lock-n-Haul. It will completely eliminate all movement of your motor and isolates it from the trailer. No steering clips are required. It can be used on just about any motor.

Your concern is legit. I have had problems with my seals in my hydraulic stearing and leaking every year. My local service man charged me about $200.00 for replacement. My boat is only 2 years old and I couldn't figure out why. Well, I took a ride behind my boat and noticed the same thing you did. The side to side movement while trailering is what caused my seals to wear out. Get a Lock-N-Haul and your problems are solved!
