Yeah, I know. I'm the guy that gave him his first one.

I got spanked good one day, years ago, when they were new by my nephew. He still remembers it too. But now there are other baits that work as well, are easier to get and more durable too. A very similar bait is the Shad-dow by Mann's baits. Tomm Mann used to plug for the Banjo. I can't prove it but I think Mann's made the banjo. Go to Mann's Baits on line and check the Shad-dow. It is a killer. Mann's made them for a private company. . .so did other manufacturers. One manufacturer couldn't keep up with the demand. Moog

There are lures that catch fish and then there are lures that catch fisherman.

They work best in water that has at least 5 feet of visibility. So throw that thing 90 feet away from you so you don't spook the bass. Good luck.

I have used them... many years ago...
Actually caught some fish on them...
My opinion: they are a very difficult bait to rig, with all the little parts you have to use, those parts are pretty much trashed after one fish.... MANY other lures out there capable of the same type presentation that dont require all the rigging.
Also, they only worked for me in a specific area known to hold fish in deep water.. could have caught those fish on a number of easier to use lures...
They will catch crappie.... but only ONE color was productive for bass and crappie, there was only five of those in the "kit" i purchased...
Also, you lose baits pretty easily even if its just crappie hittin it...
Dont waste your money.

Dont waste your money. With all respect to everyone. . . .fishing with lures is a matter of skill and confidence. I'm an old dog, and have been fishing for 58 years worldwide, and have pretty much seen it all.
There are many anglers on this board who have mastered one or more particular lures and swear by them, whereas others using the same lure come up empty and say that they don't work.
Let's face it, there are lures out there that no matter how much you master them, they just won't work well.
On a side note, one of the inventors of the Banjo Minnow was offering $10,000 to anyone who could out fish him with their lures while he used the Banjo. No one ever won the 10 grand. Banjo's have their good points and bad however, the good points outweigh the bad.
I've been using them since they came out, primarily for Striped Bass. I've mastered them and swear by them, and caught my share of LMB with them too.
It's just like spark plugs. Ask 100 mechanics which spark plug is the best, and see how many answers you get. . . . Moog
