Nice! What would you say you spent on the project, if you care to share. $2750 bought me the boat, trailer, and originally a 40hp tiller mariner motor. I almost killed myself test driving it when I got home with it. (wayy too much motor without decking and extra weight.), so I sold it and bought all the supplies needed to paint and convert the boat and a side imaging unit. The paint and supplies were probably somewhere around $200-$300. It was fun and it kinda gives me a sense of accomplishment every fish I catch and every place I get in a tournament.

No sure didn't. I just ready Alot on that stuff decaying and mildewing. There are certain kinds though that you can use that won't and if I pull up the wood ever, I might look into it.

That's a lot of nice work. How much weight do you think you added?

well not a whole lot, probably 150lbs. The batteries are what most of the weight is. I can still pick the boat up from the front. Its pretty heavy, but can pick it up if needed to move on the ball.

The boat looks great. I might have to try that sometime. My dad had one like that a long time ago. It wasn't near as nice though.

It is a 1995 model boat and its welded and it had a 40hp motor on the back. You can find something of the same size and will do the same project for much much less, you can find steals on craigslist. You might have to piece it together, like get a motor at a later time or whatever, but if you played your cards right, you could come out with a project like this with a motor that works well, maybe a little older, and minus the side imaging unit for less than $1000-$1500.

And the compliments are much much appreciated. I am not a true natural carpenter or builder, so I had to put forth some work for this thing to look half way decent.
I would have rather used aluminum bracing and aluminum decking, but I dont have experience with metal and its a little more expensive.

Nice job!!! One question....is there anything special you had to do to the boat before painting and is there a special paint for aluminum boats i should use? Im thinking of doing the same to my 14' aluminum boat, so i'd appreciate the info!
