This is where it can get expensive. Even with only three styles of plastic, and 3 colors each , now you have 9 baits to buy. Add a coulple of new colors each trip and soon your box looks like something that should belong on the BASS tour. Good luck MO

Ain't that the truth, Academy has TTK's, assassins, N.S.E's, for $3.19 I believe. Cocahoes are about $1.99, and shrimp tails run $2.50 or so and higher. So 3 colors of 3 baits runs to the tune of $23 for just nine bags, can get to be an expensive tune. .......comes out to 150 or so live brownies, however the TTK's and N.S.E. will last a long time with multiple fish caught on it. So they are more cost efficent, IMHO. [This message has been edited by TOO (edited 06-27-2003).]

That's my point. Just three, old reliables. I know that colors will change. But between Rockport and Baffin Bay which three would you take with you if you could only take three.
When I am wade fishing I really hate to be carrying and tending to a whole lot of [censored].

2 days and no one wants to give me their three best. I understand. You probably think that I should have gotten the clue from TOO's post.
No. I will start with one, the number one artifical, shrimp tail red body and white tail. No jig head, short shank hook only.
Comments.
P.S. - tried different artificals in a pool with different weights. Unbelievable. The weights and the type of lure work very differently. Even got a twitch down or maybe it was me reaching for a beer. Anyway it was fun and educational. First few cast I placed over the pool, just used to throwing thoses Alamedas I guess.

I have not fished with Assisans much in Salt but have had luck two ways with them.
Both way I vary the retrive. But I normally try the twitch and let sit. Twitch and let sit. Then I goto twitching a lot and letting it sit. Then last I will try the walking the dog deal.
I rig two ways with the assisan. One just with a hook down weedless thru the plastic. Second I do a texas rig with Two glass beads. I seam to have better luck with the glass beads. When you do the twitch and you get that noise from the weight hitting the glass it seams to draw a strike. This also works well on Striper in Lake Austin under the 360 Bridge as well as on the COlorado River for Gauadlupe bass. So far in Salt this has only produced a few good Red's but I switch to it when I run out of live bait and normally pick one fish up if they were biteing that day.

Sorry Scottie, I'd love to offer some advice but I can't say I've ever had any "success" with artificials. I've caught one or two here and there but that's about it. Something TOO said, "Sometimes it's not about the bait or the color or the retrieve, it's all about the confidence you have in using them." Well, he said something like that anyway.
From what I've seen and heard from talking to people my three would be a dark colored (pumpkinseed) Sand Eel or TTK with a chartreuse tail, a weedless gold spoon, and my one and only topwater bone Producer with hopes that it will pay off someday. I'm still trying to find a reliable color/style on the topwater.

I wont go out on a limb and recomend exact colors. I do think it is important to have some light and some dark colors. On assassins I will alway have a red shad to fish in off color water or over mud bottoms. In cleaner water or light colored bottoms , some variation of white/ clear/ glitter. Good luck MO
