Putting feelers out for a partner (me and one other person) to go on a week long Canadian fishing trip. Right now I am thinking:
1. We would fly to Minneapolis on Saturday morning May 28, pick up a rental car (I have got a minivan already reserved with a really great weekly rate) around 1 PM, stop in a Walmart on the way up for food and things, and be at the resort/cabin in Nestor Falls, Ontario on Sabaskong Bay on Lake of the Woods by about 7 PM Saturday and fish all day Sunday through Friday night. Species in the lake are smallmouth, large mouth, walleye, crappie, northern pike, muskie, perch, and others (no lake trout). 2. We would drive back to MSP Saturday morning and be back in Texas by Saturday night, June 4. 3. The rental boat is fully floored with front trolling motor, livewells, a depth finder and a 50HP 4 stroke and you don't find many rental boats up there with these features.
Your share of expenses would be airfare (which is cheap right now). $350 for your share of the cabin fees, $325 for your share of the rental boat, $200 for rental car, plus fuel and tax and additional food.
If you have been up that way before and can afford it and have the time, I will not have to talk you into it. If you haven't been up there, go once and you will be hooked for life. The week I have selected should be a very good late spring/early summer pattern.
I am also considering driving up with my boat from Plano as an option.
There are too many other details to list here. If you have an interest, leave your contact information and I will contact you.

Wished I could work it out, but mama said NO! I've been up that way and you are right- it's a trip of a lifetime. Good luck with it.

Crow Lake (Kakagi Lake) about a mile up the road from where we stay on Lake of the Woods. Great pike and muskie fishing on Crow.
Which Texan wants to go up an experience an unbelievable fishing trip????

Wish I could, haven't been up there since '08. What an awesome fishery! We actually go to Rainy Lake. If anyone is considering this trip, you will be amazed and have the time of your life. Perfect time to go, too. Probably be on a pre-spawn pattern.

Still would like to find someone to go on this trip with me as it will be cheaper for each with two people going. I have one guy that is seriously considering it but he has yet to give a final commitment and the time is drawing near. If he does go, maybe a 3rd wouldn't be a bad option.
If the dates don't work let me know and we might be able to change them and if driving up with a boat in tow is the preferred option, let me know that as well although it will add two days to the front side of the trip and 1 day to the return.
If you can afford it and can get the time off of work, you won't regret this fishing trip.

Still looking for a partner to go on a week long Canadian fishing trip to Lake of the Woods. If you can afford it and can get off of work, and you love fishing where you never know if you have a smallmouth, walleye, northern pike, largemouth, crappie, perch, or muskie on your line, you will not be sorry you took this trip.
Time is getting short and I will have to cancel if I can't find a partner to go.
