I've been an avid freshwater fisherman all my life, well I have recently purchased a kayak and look forward to doing more coastal fishing. I have surf fished for years, but that's a completely different monster than what I want to start doing.
I'm hoping to start kayaking some of the bays looking for trouts and reds etc. What I'm looking for are suggestions for what lures to pack and in what color schemes.
First place I will try my luck will probably be Turtle Bay near Palacious.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!!

Keep it simple... Norton sand eel tequila/chart. Hogie super minnow pumpkin/chart white/chart.
Top dog type topwater..
Plastics on 1/8 oz oldham head. 20 lb braid.
Top waters easier on mono, 12-15 lb.
Bay fishing is all about the mullet pods, find them, you'll get bit.

Keep it simple. Pack several 1/8 oz. and 1/4 oz. jig heads. Color of soft plastics for those jig heads is just a personal preference, something dark like plum/chartreuce or pumpkinseed or something bright like limetreuse or glow/chartreuse will probably be OK. Always take along a couple topwaters, again color doesn't seem to be nearly as important as size and action. I'll use a bone/chrome SuperSpook Jr. a lot this time of year. For a little larger presentation try a bone or silver/pink Skitterwalk. A Mansfield Mauler type of float might come in handy to hang those jigs 14-18 inches or so underneath. Keep your eyes peeled for slicks (not those from crab traps) and the trout will be there.

I agree very much with what Pat and Old Salty have stated so far. I am not a rep for either of these companies that I'm about to mention, they are just my opinions. I used the Reaction Strike Diet Jerk lures in black shad and DOA glow shrimp with great success last year. Both lures are a lot of fun to fish with, and the results were phenomenal. Everybody will have their own opinions, but I can speak to the lures that I just mentioned.
I'm not a chick.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like all i need to add to my list to get is some of the floats to suspend the plastics.
Thanks!

Three rods on your yak. One rod rigged for bottom fishing (carolina/flounder rig). One rod with a popping cork 18-24" leader. One rod with jighead and plastics (dark and light, color is your choice). I keep spoons, topwaters, cranks and suspending baits nearby to switch out on the jig rod. I like Gulp in swimming mullet and jerk shad pattern if regular stuff isn't working.
The only thing dumber than a fish is a fisherman.

That was my plan. I am hoping to pick up a third rod/reel setup that can handle the salt so I don't have to abuse my freshwater gear so much. My plan was to have one rod rigged with braid, one with a fluorocarbon or copolymer line, and the other with either/or.
