In the past I've always fished Choke first and have never gone straight to Falcon from Houston... Any suggestions?

59 to freer, 16 to zapata. just about the time you are tired of driving, drive about 2 more hours. then you'll be there. but it's worth it.

59 to Freer, 16 to Zapata. Where are you going to stay?

I can make it from Shreveport, La to main street Zapata in about 10 hours going 59 to Freer and 16 into Zapata. Definitely the fastest route.

How long does it take to go down 59 to Freer, then 16 to Zapata? Hows the drive (lots of towns to stop in?)
Mapquest suggest fouzman route down I-10 and I-35. Says it's about 30 miles further but a couple of minutes faster

Warning once you make that drive past Choke you will always drive another couple hours to fish Falcon. I am from Kingwood close to Houston and I do the 59 to 16 drive. Much less traffic and a pretty peaceful drive. Make sure you check your tires though couple major stretches of nothing but you and the road.

It typically takes about 5-1/2 to 6 hours going 59 to 16. It all depends on how many times you stop and for how long.
There are several towns but it typically doesn't take long to get through them.
