Just thinking about the slot on fork... seems to me that most 98% of the people who catch 98% of the bass on Fork thow them back anyways so what is the purpose of the slot? Sure there are a few bank bangers that might keep a few of the big fish but lets face it they don't catch enough fish to put a dent in the population. This would be huge for the lake and all the businesses around it. The number tournaments there would grow enormously! I mean would a 16-20 inch slot be so bad?

If you're in the 98% who catches and releases them anyway, what would changing the slot matter? There a plenty of tournaments on Fork already, you just have to deal with the slot like every other angler on the lake. If you're in the 2% that likes to keep a fish here and there, there are plenty of 16" and under bass available.

How many people really want to see the number of tournaments increase. Seems like I have seen a lot of posts on here saying there are already too many tournaments and tournament trails.

Since I'm not really a tournament fisherman answer me this...why would lowering the upper end of the slot be huge for the lake and businesses around it? And why would the number of tournaments increase "enormously"? Maybe you get one or two big trails that would come every few years.

I don't intend for this as an insult to anyone, but if lowering the slot so some weekend joe can get his ego stroked by weighing in 20 pounds instead of 10, then I will never support such a measure.

And when you get right down to it, that's always the argument for lowering the slot...more tournaments. If it's not ego, then what is it?

Got a better chance of making it catch and release only.

Fork's reputation as a Big Bass Factory is becoming tainted as it is; the only reason to mess with it is for club tourney numbers (fouzman nailed it). I like fishing tourneys but the last thing Fork needs is an excuse to add more pressure!

I have a better idea.....rename it Squaw Creek and close it for a couple of years then reopen as a catch and release only lake! (can't wait to see the responses from this). hehe!
