It is time for a new trolling motor on my boat. Which would you suggest? With these specs, not in any specific order.
24 volt 42-45 inch shaft super quite dependable foot control
Thanks

+1 for the Fortrex I had used a MG for years and switched and real happy I did. The only problem I had was getting used to the switch being on the other side of the foot pedal.

I just sheared a maxxum "indestructable" shaft and got the shaft from minnkota,12 days now and no response from an email inquiry as to what I could do to get it fixed. check out the bps site for the motor guide 75# bottom one is the one I got (were on sale for 466.00 but still a good deal). first mg I have ever owned after being a minnkota/humminbird fan for about 40 yrs. and it already outdoes the minnkota after only using it twice.
50" gator mount at the bottom. http://www.basspro.com/MotorGuide-Pro-Series-Freshwater-Trolling-Motors/product/74173/-1224532

All I have ever used is Motor Guide. Only problems that I have had were operator error.

Well it seems it is 50/50 on MG and MK. My boat came with a MG (foot control) when I brought it new back in 1990, it worked for 10 years. Then I got a Boris Marine (hand control) and it is still going, but it is starting to fade and I do not like hand control, to much in the way. Thanks for the input everyone. See you on the water.

Whichever way you go - keep an eye on Amazon's stock.
I was able to pick up a MinnKota Maxxum 80lb/24v/foot from them for $699 just a couple of weeks ago. I just looked and they are back up to $900+ but their prices seem to change quite often. No tax and free shipping make it a pretty sweet deal.
BTW - I love the maxxum. I ran it all day in the winds and had no issues and I never ran out of battery juice.

Owned both. MK hands down. Ask any reputable trolling motor shop that sells and services both brands. They'll tell you the same thing.

ive never seen where mk said the shaft was unbreakable ,they said it was gauranteed for life, i splintered one once and took it to a mk repair shop , it was replaced for free, would like to see mg do that, if you did that to a mk ,immagine what a mg would look like , and they charge for shaft replacement
