As most of you know, red tide is down here in Corpus Area. This weekend, while surfing, I combed the beach to see what species of fish I could find among the thousands of dead fish laying on the beach. To my horror, I saw several of the nices trout I have seen all year. One of which, easily went 30 inches. Even worse, I counted 4 large snook laying dead and bloated. I have always wanted to catch a good size snook and have never had the opportunity. To see 4 trophies laying dead was down right depressing. Thankfully most of the hardest hit fish were things like mullet, croaker, and hardheads but there was a large population of young pompano and jack cravelle laying dead. Also found 1 small mangrove snapper. Gratefully, I did not see very many redfish. They sure are tough. On a strange note, I saw many snake like creatures. No, they were not eels but more like sea snakes. Kinda beat up so could not be certain though I did not think they lived in these parts. Anyways, Sad story!

I think its pretty much gone but maybee still a small hint in the water. Went surfing last Tuesday and the water was beautiful. Very clear but still could see a little pink here and there. Did not see a sinlge dead fish though.
