I guess I dont have a pro angeler, but my ugly stick cat rod has done the job just fine on everything 12" channels to to a 50 lb blue, 30+ lb bull reds and a 5.5' shark.
Seems like it works for me.

So why do I have to be different? Ok...so here is the deal. I have fished with both and I think both have their place. If I was a tournament fisherman exclusively there is no doubt that I would use Pro Angler rods - they are a great rod and have their place. But, I don't. Alot of my time catfishing is spent taking people fishing for the first time and even though we catch alot of large fish, the majority of the fish we catch are 4-10lbs. The fight on a 4-10lb fish is totally differernt on a Pro Angler vs. an Ugly Stik. The Ugly Stik gives you alot more action on a smaller fish, which the kiddos and adults that fish with me seem to like. I had 6 Pro Angler Rods on the boat with me and even the 32#'er we caught just kinda got "hauled in.". Like I said before, if I were fishing in a tournament, I would want that fish "hauled in." Now, there is a huge difference in the CAL 1100 and CAL 1101 Ugly Stik. If folks refer to Ugly Stiks in the CAL 1100 variety, I could undertand what the frustration is. However, the CAL 1101 is about 2 steps down (in stiffness) from a Pro Angler. Which, in my opinion makes the best Big Fish rod for blues. It gives you a little more action with your fish, but at the same time has plenty of backone to bring in the fish in timber over 60#'s. Here are 2 videos of fish that were all caught on CAL 1101 Ugly Stiks this past winter. If you are not a hard core tournament fisherman, you might look at the CAL 1101's.

Like a Marine and his rifle there is nothing deadlier than a fisherman and his rod

ProAngler after using both for a couple years. No comparison. Foam and cork work- never can decide myself. It seems the foam holds up a little better in the BeeReadys after years of use/abuse.

Shakespeare has been around for a while. Started in 1897.Warranty is 5 to 7 years. Can be bought almost any sporting good store. ProAngler made by ?????? Warranty is ??????? The only place to buy them is out of the trunk of someones car. None of the sporting good stores have them? Why is this?

catfishsalsa,You ain't by yourself, I fish the 'tiger rod' ugly stick..it has a soft tip with aLOT OF BACKBONE about mid rod..great for the big boys and soft tip is great for drifting..my teammate fishes the p.a. and like them but also comments he likes the tiger too. as long as they catch the fishy and don't break I guess it's what ya like!!!

Freeman, you can buy them at the pro angler store by lake lavon, on line or to save shipping a few of the guys sell them as you say out of the trunk of their car to make it easier and cheaper to get them. I will let tex tell you about the warranty.
