For several years I have been hearing of Gator sightings on the upper end of Stillhouse. About a month ago two fellows past by while fishing and said that they had spotted 2 Gators. Since I fish the river a lot and not spotted one, I still had some doubt. Over the years I have seen what appeared to be Gator slide paths into the river but no actual Gator sightings. Two weeks ago my doubt was erased when I saw one gator for myself. This gator was spotted about 1/8 of a mile below where the power lines crosses the river for the second time (as you travel up river). I don't water ski any more, but on occasions I have taken a dip to cool off from the summer heat. Has anyone spotted gators in other Central Texas Lakes within the past several years? Just curious as to which Lake, what area of the lake, and how long ago? Thanks

There used to be a couple south of Whitney on the Brazos when I was a kid. They were around for a couple of years and then gone.
In the floods of '07 they killed one about a mile outside the Belton city limits on the way to Little River. They are in the area, just not in any numbers to speak of.
Banger's second link is the one outside of Belton that I was referring to, didn't read it before my post.

I see aligator boat tours on stilhouse coming now.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I see aligator boat tours on stilhouse coming now. Least Stillhouse will be good for something besides ditching stolen cars in.
Keep on fishing.

They are definately there. My wife and I were fishing two years ago about where Brent's Dad is talking about. We watched about a 10 footer swim back and forth across the river, not 50 yards from us. I got one picture with my cell phone as I tried to ease up to it (wife was not for this). I have talked to TP&W, they know they (several) are there. Kind of neat. I won't swim in the river, but I would not hesitate to jump in the lake to cool off.

My wife and I watched a 10 footer swim back and forth across the river, near where Bren't Dad is talking about. I got close enough to get one picture with my cell phone before it submerged. Wife was ready to go at this point. TP&W knows they (several) are in the river.

Oh ya he's there alright. And the one I saw twice was bigger than 10'.
