Recently bought a house in Rayburn Country as a weekend place to get away and fish. I typcially fish Falcon but the long drives and the time it took didnt make sense.

So I bought this little weekend house in Rayburn Country. Between buying furnture, moving stuff you have two of, fixing stuff and you name it on the weekends, I havnt fished in so long I can't remember.

Hope to have my boat moved week after next and fishing when I not painting or on the end of a chainsaw.

I only fished Rayburn a few time tournament fishing back in the day and a few day trips from Houston. It was never my favorite lake, but not my worst either. I better start liking it now.

I do think once I get everything fixed and the way the better half wants it, I should be able to fish more. If not I sure am practiced up on painting and chainsaws...........dang they got some trees in East Texas.

Thanks, Billy

Good luck with satisfying your wife and getting back in the water. It will happen and you will love it even more!

I agree with you, but most on here would say, "Boo Hoo. I have to work at my second home."

We bought a place on rayburn about a year ago. 27 acres with 8 on the water outside of hunnington. It is a ton of work and if i go up there i dont have time to fish usually. Who would have thought get a lake house fish less

That is one of the reason's I bought a motorhome, no yard work or painting etc., and I can have a different lake house every weekend.I will have a lake house one day, probably will be my residence, atleast that is the plan. What changed my mind about buying a lake house was two things, could not afford what we wanted where we wanted it and everyone we talked with at the lake about their homes said all they did was come down and go to work.

I second the RV or camper. Less work= more time. Also, I don't have to worry about a payment, other then season rent, and I can move lakes or locations.

I can barely keep up with the ongoing weekend chores at my primary residence. The RV / Camper idea sounds better, though there's maintenance and costs associated with those too.

This is the reason I went with a weekend trailer place at Fork. All the maintenance of the yard and such is taken care of except for the little area inside the fence of my trailer. A weedeater and roundup handles that two or three times a year in the growing season. Anything else I do is just becuase I want to, not have to. Well unless something breaks on the trailer itself.

My rent is one of the higher one's on Fork, but I have a nice amount of space and also a nice amount of distance between me and my neighbors. My wife not not big on being horse shoes into a place like some of them are.

Yard work will take some of your fishing time too. Its well worth the trade off though. I like sleeping in my own bed and having clothes abd groceries already out there so all I have to do is show up.

I like projects to look forward to, plan and stuff to work on. For whatever reason I like chainsaws, not as much as my boat and fipping jigs, but having a nice little place to work on is not a bad problem to have.

The lake is down and its going to get lower, but it will come back up. I do not really now anybody in the area, but will.

One I get my work done will be spending my vacations fishing.

I thought about the motor home/fifth wheel, but conerned about resale, space, trailer parks and etc.

I like owning my own place.
