i was wondering which would be better to get, i generally fish rivers and dams and the occasional bank spot. Ive heard tons of good things about proangler rods and well just wanted to know if there were any people out there that use or prefer uglysticks. Plan on going on a trip to arkansas and mississippi over the summer so i want to be prepared for that record flatty or blue (and a possible gar)

I've had both and I would recomend the pro angler. One of my pro angler rods got run over and still worked like a charm. Just had to straighten a couple of eyes out.

Look around and ask the Texas tournament guys what they'd rather use. Pro Angler all the way. It won't be long before you start seeing them in use up in the far North and out East too. I'm not saying that because I sell Pro Angler Rods and Reels. The rods sell themselves. Once you pick one up you'll know. Chime in here guys if you're using Pro Angler rods.

Ive never used ugly sticks but Im willing to bet there is no comparison. All of my rods are Pro Angler except for two TC yellows. After using and catching with Pro Angler rods, I hate my TC yellows!!!

I've got both on my boat. Im slowly changing everything out to the EVA. Its very durable and cleans up great.

I got a Proangler from Bob .. that thing is a real work horse.. i haven't caught anything over 5 pounds with it yet but that thing brings in 3-5 pounders like you got a big bait on it For the price I think they are hard to beat, I have a Uglystick as well works fine but a little to much buggy-whip for my liking..

I switched all mine to proanglers. yes the eva cleans easily. They have a good feel to them when they are horsing in a larger fish and work great for your eaters too.

I have had both and use my rods alot and hard. The ugly stik are readily available at most stores and for "normal" catfishing they are good. They are E-glass and have a good flex to them. They do lack in the back bone compaired to the proangler. Sensitivity is about the same on both. Ugly stik uses only 9 eyes and proangler has 12 for super long casting. I heard alot about them so I tried a few myself and now all my rods are proangler for their duribility and strength. If you have a chance to catch a big one you will need the strenght of the back bone so by all means buy proangler. That 85 lber in my signature was caught on a proangler and I was sure glad I had it instead of my old ugly stik catfish rod!

I've only used a pro-angler rod once, and because of that I'm buying two.
I have an Ugly Stick I've used for over 20 years. Love it to death, and while it won't break, it is pretty flexible (was flexible when new too).
Not that I'd be afraid if I hooked a big one on it (think it would be pretty fun), I feel more confident with the sturdier Pro-Anlger if I ever get that chance.
Then again it all comes down to personal preference. I'm never getting rid of my ugly stick, but will slowly replace others with Pro-Angler as time goes on (unless something better comes along).
