could have caught all the sandies we wanted to - but that wasnt the target - we wanted stripers/hybrids they were some what elusive saturday caught one 6/7 lb striper, lost a couple others and threw back a few small ones. had a lot of fun Matt brought his son out with hime - really good kid and a lot of help around the boat. had a great time

Thanks Clete, had fun finally fishing with ya!

The morning bite has been inconsistant the past four or five days. One day they will school and the next they wont. Some days you can still pick off a limit or two on structure and the next morning they are nowhere to be found.

The afternoons that the wind has allowed me to fish have been great though. Seems like the old saying is true - "They gotta eat sometime" ????? Well, the days that the fish have not schooled in the morning have had some really good schooling in the aqfternoon!

And like Clete said.....if ya wanna catch some sand bass, they are stacking up like cord wood smile We had a day this week we got a 75 fish limit of big sandies in about an hour and came back down the lake to striper fish the rest of the day rolfmao

Fishing a as you guys called them a green fish tournament on Saturday, I set up in the morning directly across from the ramp at the end of the dirt road in Rabbit. There were two boats back in the cove behind the marina so I set up on the point. With the consistently South wind all week, I figured I'd work my way back from there. In a small boat I didn't have many other options than looking for similar settings in the wind. First cast at 7 am with square bill crank. Huge sandbass. Second cast same thing. Third cast you get the picture.

At this point I started thinking about fishing for fun and tournament fishing and the old Clash song. Should I stay or should I go...? I remembered I wasn't paying $$$ into the tournament pot to catch a live well of magnum sandies and moved on around the point. But I thought I'd pass the experience along to the guys on this forum. These were some good fish in an area you wouldn't get pounded on.

Nice Work David! That area is good in April & May for Big SandBass! Had a camp trip with FastGuy last year this time and we wore them out at Bunny smile

Who was the guide?

The idiots and morons of which I speak were guys in 2 bass boats. They each had 2 guys riding on their front deck on their knees. They would blast right past all the boats running trolling motors at 30+ mph and cast before even coming off plane. It was not only dangerous, but they had blatant disreguard for any of the other 10 boats using courtesy and ruined everyone's fishing. Even their own. I'll state it one more time for good measure - IDIOTS. I usually don't yell at folks that dont know any better out on the water, even at guys who do know better. This was just some of the worst I've ever seen.....
