Took two army medics out to bastrop this past sunday. water temps in the high 70's, air temps pushing 90's.... WIND WIND WIND WIND was the name of the game yet the fishing was HOT!!! lost track of how many fish those two guys were catching. started early at the intake (and out of the wind) and were cathing them with frogs on the inside grassline and T-rigged baby rattlesnakes (watermellon)out side the grass line. Shad rapalas and every kind of crank bait was working on the wind blown points and shorelines. We let the wind push us down the west side of the finger just north of the dam and tried to stay about 20 yards out side the grass line and the bass were EVERYWHERE!! at the grass line, away from the grassline and every direction the bass were there, we had multipule multi fish hook ups. the wind was blowing us almost fast enough to troll the crank baits.... we drifted the shoreline at least 10 times in about 45 min and caught bass left and right... the water was choppy as hell and if you didnt catch a fish you caught floating grass.... yet those two army guys (a medic and an M.I. guy caught thier personal best each..... all in all.... Bastrop was on fire this weekend... over 40 fish in a few hours

I was out on MON and the fishing was not as hot. I picked up a few (maybe 10 bites altogether). The wind was unmanageable after about 10 or so, and that's an understatement. Good thing I didn't go to Fayette! Picked up a few on a jointed swimbait, CB, and a couple on TR beavers. Several came from the intake area, a couple from the dam, and a couple in Boy Scout Cove. Fished from 8 till about 3. Almost all the fish I caught were very much post spawn and looked skinny and worn out.
