shimano or diawa is my preference. I fished with some revo's and could never get them adjusted right for my preferences. I fought WAY too many backlashes with the revos.

I have the same feeling on Revos Ronnie. Those things drove me nuts, always messing with the cast control and most of them I couldn't whip a heavy bait for a long cast without a backlash no matter how I did it. I dumped all mine on ebay two years ago, went with Daiwa and have never looked back. Lotta people like them though so who knows.

I use a Curado/Zillion mix myself. Had the 2k10 STX-HS and some 2k10 SX-HS and they performed adequately, but glad I switched to Daiwa/Zillion.

Japan made Daiwa . . i.e. Zillion, Steez are probably the most well built, "machine like" reels made. . . however, i prefer the centrifugal breaking of Shimanos VBS and the new D series Chronarchs are outstanding. . ive got 4 d series curados and as good as they are, im always picking up the white chronies . . plus they look soo good on st croix legend tournament and legend extreme rods. . ill get a picture later of them. Spend the money and get one of the 2. . .Revos will not last near as long and good luck with parts a year or 2 from now

Not a problem. Go with the zillion though I have the 50th anniversary and it is by far the best reel I've thrown. The closest to it now is the zillion coastal which is a dang fine reel too.

I thought all aint casters birds nested a big part of the time. I would actually be interested in doing more with my aint casters then just vertical fishing and trolling if i could find a bait caster that didn't birdnest near as often.

You haven't tried a very good one or you don't know how to properly set the brakes. I do get the occasional backlash but it's usually when I do something stupid like try to launch my lure a mile. Maybe one lash per 100 cast.

Honestly if it is a cranking reel... the 200e5 Curado would be the way to go. Next being the zillion crazy cranker.

You have to check out the gear ratios, I know the Chronarch has a 5:1 which pulls in (I think) 21 inches of line per crank. Not sure what the lowest the Zillion has, but if it cranks too fast your cranks will want to roll over and not reach their maximum depth.
The Curado5 & ChronarchD5 have the same ratio and the Curado is quite a bit cheaper. It just doesn't fit my hand the same, but it could just be my imagination though.
