Beat Fork to death Saturday, 4/9, didn't get a single hit. We mainly fished 6-10 feet with jigs, soft plastics, crankbaits, spinnerbaits...nothing. Moved out and hit some of the main points and creek channels (fighting the wind tooth and nail all the way) with c-rigs, drop shot rigs, and jigs on all sorts of timber and couldn't luck into one. Game wardens said no-one did very well. Is there something we missed?

Talked to a Fork guide buddy of mine a few days ago and he was shaking his head. Two of his guide buddies were also doing the same.

Fishing has been really off there for most people.

Saturday, 3 fish (should have been 4), pumpkin green trick worm 3-6 ft of water. No size, biggest was 3-9. Met a guide out there and he sd it was worse than slow. Another boat in the group had a 3, and had one on that he estimated at 9, but that was it.

'Course witht the wind, about half of the lake was pretty much unreachable/unfishable, unless you had like 8 power poles and pointed it into the wind.

We did ok, it was a tough bite though. Friday we had 10 and Saturday only fished for a few hours but had 3 and lost a couple others.

Not having much knowledge of the way the lake usually fishes this time of year might have helped us. We noticed lots of boats up in the ends of coves or beating the banks without much luck. I figured with the low water the fish might just hang on the creek channels where the surrounding flats get shallow enough to spawn which I figured is about 7ft. We just followed the channels in Little Caney and Dale throwing jigs and texas rigged plastics. Most of the fish related to wood in about 7ft on the bends. The creek channel was usually about 10 to 12 feet deep. It wasn't fast fishing but it was steady. We caught pre and post spawners and one that was almost spawned out making me think they might be spawning in a little deeper water.

Fished for about 4 hours on Saturday and the wind beat us to death. Managed to catch a few, but nothing over 4lbs. We did find this monster floating dead in Little Caney.

The fishing is a bit off but we are still managing 20-40 aday fishing 4-12 ft with drop shots. We spend a few hours aday looking at them looking for a giant! The key right now is finding groups of fish and following their movements day by day! I had a fellow TFF'er yesterday, chrismorrison and we boated 25 but lost and missed 15-20 more. Had a few bigg ones hang up during the fight too.. Give me a call or shoot me a pm if you want to come out and experience just how good Lake Fork really is!
