OK guys, finaly payment went in last week. Just talked with Eric at DD to confirm receipt...we are good to go I have money from everyone except the additional $3 I mentioned in the previous post. I can just collect that on the boat. If you're there early, go by and talk with Eric, very nice guy. He said they have perch traps at their dock for live bait and will also let us catch bait right off of their dock and they have holding tanks right there. Sounds like the easiest way for bait. We leave at 6 am and arrive back 12 hrs later at 6 pm. Please be there at 5:30 am sharp. We do not want to be late! We will be fishing for Red Snapper as the main target. After we've limited or are tired we'll focus on another species. Remember however, that there are many species at the rigs for shark, grouper, AJ's etc...should be a great weekend to go. Just pray for good weather. We will also have room for a couple of coolers. Bring your food/drink and we'll combine them. Make sure you mark yours with your name. Don't go crazy though, we don't want to fill the boat up with coolers. Probably 3-4 max. I believe the boat itself has a small snack bar on it with drinks and candybars etc... you can buy. We will have 2 big fish pots for fun on the boat. $5 for biggest Red Snapper and $5 for biggest fish (any species). Join in if you want, we'll collect on the boat but is totally optional. Lastly, once we return you can do what you want with your fish. Clean them yourselves or pay DD to clean them. If there is a big shark caught (100+ pounds) I think whomever catches it should share with anyone that wants a steak from it. The reason is because the boat as a whole only gets to keep 1 shark over 54" I'm not going to fight anyone on this, but I think it'd be best if everyone agreed ahead of time. I'm sure some will want a steak or 2 and some will not. My crew (8 guys) will be going directly to Castaways for dinner that night. We will obviously clean our fish and shower etc... before, but we're going. If anyone wants to join us come on...you're welcome. Am I missing anything??? I can't think of anything... cgstrange P.S. Oh yeah... we only have 23 more days to go!!!

Wow, I sure wish I would have found out about this trip a long time ago. Sounds like a blast and when I saw that trapperben is going, I really feel bad.
Can yall let me know if you do this again next year? I love offshore fishing and never been down the coast offshore...Freeport and Galveston only. Wish yall great luck and light winds...

breambuster, we haven't really talked about another trip next year but I'm sure if this is a success we'll do it again. This started out as a private voyage for me and some buddies until we realized it'd be cheaper to charter the bigger boat if we could fill it up. This will be my 2nd annual trip offshore for the start of Snapper season and I'm sure there will be a 3rd.
We'll just have to wait and see but there's definetally a good shot of it becoming an annual event.

Thanks Cameron, I just put together a small private charter for myself, nephew, cousin and 8 women going out of Freeport on Elliot's. Could really only handle 12 or less, but really want to get into the tuna trips.
I saw where TOO has a 48 hour trip next November..just don't know if I can get those days off with working for TPWD in my current position.
Thanks so much for responding!

Thanks for keeping us up to date. Is it just me or has time started to drag the closer we get to this trip?

Will be there. Appreciate the help in getting this going........will ask one more time, I got a 6'6" 50-80# rod, but no reel, anyone got a reel and some power pro or the like to winch some ornery AJ's to the surface?.....in for both pots, yall can give me the money when we board the D.E. to save the wait. BB, we are a weekend mostly trip in November, se if you can get off then and join the group. We got a number of really good tunaheads going and always have a great time.

Will try my best...thanks for including me. I will know something for sure come the end of this month.
Now, I've been called a "bonehead" from a select few, but is it anything close to a "tunahead?"

Thanks for everything Cameron...I'll see you there. I've been in Dallas a couple of days with the Shakespeare Marketing Director and others and came home with a new 6-bearing Pflueger Trion baitcaster (many of the BASS pros are using this)and graphite Ugly Stick...anyone fishing on Saturday is welcome to try it out...it's really cool. We also make the Cajun Red line, so it'll be loaded with 14lb string and ready to go. I can't wait!!

Booked our room tonight, I'll try to be there in plenty of time to catch bait, anyone that can't, I'll be selling it as we board the boat kidding of coarse. Been a busy year here, haven't been fishing once! This will be the first of the year for me and another guy going, nativeaustinut, I got shotgun! Counting them down...

TOO, I have that silver Garcia(Penn replica) that I used last year. You are welcome to use it, I would just replace the mono topshot. Only problem is that I am in Arlington. It worked good on them kings and sharks. Someone also reeled in an AJ with it when I handed it to him to reel in another pole on th Tuna II. I changed Rods, so you probably would be better using your rod. I bought a cheapie 30# rod. Basically it is set up for playing with the kings.

Was in Port A this past weekend...if you haven't reserved yet, the single rate is around $60 (depending on place)...forgot to ask about double, etc. This is spring rate...about doubles in summer after Mem.Day. Thought I'd post to give all an average of costs.

Skeeter and TOO, I'll be in DFW this coming weekend if I need to get a reel. TOO, let me know if you want it and Skeet let me know if we can hook up.
Only prob I see, is that I won't be able to get it to you TOO until we meet at the dock. However, with an anticipated 2 hr drive before we start fishing, you should have time to work on the top shot that morning if you want. Up to you, just let me know.

Gonna, I resemble that remark. See if I get out to help push ya off a reef or wade your boat out of Cedar Bayou. Awe Heck! They're all good times. At least we're fishin'. Good buddies, good times, good fishin'(I'm prayin').
