Well I took my 7 year old out with me this more in the tandem. We fished for about 3 hours before it got interesting. I mostly let him practice casting and getting un hung up lol! The wind started kicking up so I was getting up back in shallower water and over we went. I guess we both leaned the same way at the same time as we really never had any probs before and up to then it was pretty stable. He kinda freaked for a second and then I got him settled down and back in the flooded yak, gathered up all my [censored] and started the swim/tow back to the bank, prolly took me 30 mins or more to get us all back to where we could touch and it wasnt that far, its tough swimming with one hand and your feet towing all that crud! We made it and he was fine but I owe it all to wearing my life jacket, without it I would have had alot of work to do!

Sorry to post two, but my page started jacking up! Ill say this, those dry packs work great, my phone starting floating off and I was able to swim to it really quick and get it before he flipped again! My yak was plumb full of water, dont know how you would get it out in some really deep stuff, I see the advantage big time now of a SOT yak! I had to go back out and get my tackle bag as it floated out and pretty far before I could get it. Didnt lose anything other than a few extra bungees I had in the basket. All in all it was a good thing for my boy to go through, now he knows its no biggee with our life jackets on, he wanted to go back out but I was way too spent! My tandem does do great with one angler, not so much for two! Hahah, Ill have to get a SOT for him when he gets a lil bigger and use it more than he does

Sorry to hear you two took a unexpected bath today. But I'm very glad to hear y'all were both wearing your life jackets and everything came out ok. I bet that water was pretty cold!!!

That's a good sign that you raised him right. I found some very shallow water that was almost 70 last weekend. but it still felt pretty dang cold with the strong winds blowing.
