2 different things, trophies and SALs. A 10lb bass is a trophy to 99% of those who bass fish. I doubt we have an accurate count of 10lb bass from these lakes. Greater SAL numbers doesn't equate necessarily to more trophy fish, unless you only consider an SAL to be a trophy. Either way, you are looking at fish caught, not fish present in the lake.

Fork has been that kind of a lake since I can recall, and others peak and decline. I have no problem fishing any of them, because regardless if it's Fork or Falcon or any other lake, a trophy is still a trophy.

I think the odds improve depending on who you fish with. If you fish with a seasoned guide on that lake, your odds drastically improve over someone who's scouting the lake for the first time.

I know you have all heard "wait til next year" but, watch Amistad especially if there is a significant water drop next winter. Ivie has been productive IMHO because the low water level has concentrated the fish more. Amistad has been at pool for a couple of years now which has provided for some outstanding spawning conditions. Just wait and you will see. The number of under 5 lb'rs being caught this year has been phenominal on Amistad.

At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

I'm just glad we live in a state with enough great bass lakes we can argue over which one is the best! Just go fishing, have fun and enjoy our good Texas fishing. Don't fret over trivial stuff like this. cheers

If you have been to Amistad this year I think you can see the writing on the wall. Lake is loaded with 5-6 lb bass ...give it a little time and it's gout to be blowout time again.

One thing on Fork that makes it hard to compare to any other lakes (IF there really is such a thing as comparing bass lakes) is the number of lines in the water on a daily basis (pressure) and the number of Florida fingerlings stocked in the lake each year. Lots of baits in the water each year to catch em and lots of fish stocked each year to catch.

Heck yeah. Glad I don't live in Minnysota or New York, no better fishing (state, or people) in the world than Texas.

I don't know a whole lot about Fork but I do know there is one thing I WON'T catch there and that's a bullet!

Alot of guys don't realize that alot of those sal's out of fork are from another lake and are driven to fork to get them weighted and say they were caught there. Just to keep the #'S on that lake down. I'll give you a hint its south of fork and is never ever ever posted on this site!!!! I only fished in tx for 6 months last yr and on that lake just 3 times. My 1st trip there my partner got a 10+ and the next one I pulled a 9.5. The 3rd time are biggest was only a 6.5 or 7, but we had a good #'s day with a good 30+ fish in about 5 hrs. Posted it on here and got reimed out by a few guys via pm to pull the post. Because they don't want it getting hammered like Fork does. Don't get me wrong Fork is one outstanding lake and i love fishing it. It just you guys never give it a rest about fork this and fork that...Why don't you just go out and fish and enjoy yourselfs and stop worrying about whats the best which has the biggest. Not everything is bigger in tx except the number of illegals taking americans jobs( might be time to move the fence to ok). Lets see biggies smallies..that would be NY..biggest stripers..that would be cape cod mass...Biggest Largemouth guess what... that would be Cali. So just do what you love and go out fishing and have fun instead of beatting this dead horse about fork!!!

I like 'em all and could care less if Fork is the "best" or anywhere else is. Some people act like they get personally insulted if someone calls one lake better than another. Its borderline silly. Hell just go fishing when you can and where you can and have fun. the rest is just details.

We will see if you are saying that in the middle of summer when its 105 degrees down there, and I have over 200 lakes within 25 miles of me that are loaded with 4-5lb bass, and the best thing is I can pick any of em and rarely see another boat fishing bass
